Is there anything to do on Anguilla?

We're considering taking a trip to Anguilla next February. However, we're just a bit concerned that there isn't anything to do on the island besides relax on the various beaches. Is this true or does Anguilla have more to offer than I know?

Also, what hotels would you recommend to stay at?

Anguilla is all about beaches (35) and restaurants (80+). Not much to do but sit on a beach, walk on a beach, read on a beach, drink on a beach, swim, snorkel a little, and eat breakfast lunch and dinner.

The best upscale resorts are Malliouhana, Cap juluca and Cusinart. You can't go wrong at any of those.

Thanks for the info. Overall, would you say it is worth taking a trip to Anguilla or would we be better off traveling elsewhere.

Of course it's worthwhile if you like beaches and fine dining (and great luxury resorts). But if you're looking for a lush landscape or want to do other things, then you might want to choose a different island.

Anguilla is fabulous as a get away from it all laid back kind of vacation.
If you want more action and night life, then perhaps consider another island

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I really appreciate it. You've all been really helpful and I can now see that Anguilla would be worth taking a trip to.

We just got back from a vacation to St. Maarten and Anguilla. We stayed in St. Maarten for 9 days and took a day trip to Anguilla. We've been to many Caribbean islands and Anguilla was by far the prettiest (in terms of the beaches - but we haven't been to Caymans, T&C, or Bahamas yet). I would suggest splitting your time between St. Maarten and anguilla. The best beach in our opinion is Shoal Bay East - most to do there. The KU hotel is right on the beach and looked nice. I would suggest to stay on Anguilla for 3 nights and spend the rest of the vacation on st. Maarten. Way way more to do on St. Maarten and only a 30 minute ferry ride. You can fly cheaper into St. Maarten too. Suggest staying on Dutch side, renting a car, and driving to Orient beach everyday. best beach on St. Maarten. Good luck!

If you are looking for a party try going to Scilly Cay (a really short boat ride from the dock in Aquilla). It is a tiny island where sponataneous parties take place. You arrive at the dock, flag down the boat and ride over. There is live music, drinks and lobster or chicken lunch. It is not open everyday, closes by around 5 and is not cheap but it is fun!

One of the most fun things to do in Anguilla is sample the nightlife. There are bands and dancing every day and night of the week. Bankie's, Elvis', Pumphouse, Smokey's, Scilly.
Just remember to take a nap and book a late dinner, as things don't start to hop until after 11.
