Did you book your hotel directly? That's not usually the best way to do things in Punta Cana. It's usually better to buy a package from a travel agent, and in that case transfers will be included or can be added easily. Otherwise, you can book a shared-van at the airport or in advance or take a private taxi, which is usually fairly expensive.

Taxis are not actually that expensive there. We took a taxi all the way to Excellence Punta Cana which is a good hour away from the airport and it was less than I expected.
The taxis have prices listed for the resorts.

How much did you pay?

It was two years ago so I don't remember....I just know we were surprised that it wasn't more expensive.
