Hi...what a great way to celebrate. My hubby and I took our 1st vacation together for our 10th anniversary and have been hooked ever since. We have 4 kids, but manage to get away at least every other year...it really spices up the marriage!
Anyway, we're going to Punta Cana April 7th to the Riu Bambu. I've read great reviews on this resort on Debbie's Dominican website (check it out)and that was how we decided on this resort. Have a ball!

Hi, my husband and I (also canadians in our 30's) stayed at Bavaro Beach Resort in Punta Cana in May of 2000 and had a great time. It gets very confusing trying to decide where to go after reading so many reviews from people with different opinions. I assure you this place is awsome and there are 5 hotels you can play at. The food was great...awsome steak and shrimp...mexican restaurant great too. The beach is spectacular...just like walking into a post card. Feel free to e-mail me if you need more information. Also you can find reviews of this resort at debbie's dominican. I read so many before I left and they were all good....you'll have a great time!!

Hi,
It's such a tough decision. We stayed at the Melia Caribe Tropical last April and will return. I have a friend who stayed at the Iberostar Bavaro same time we were there and loved it also. Friend that just returned from the Iberostar Punta Cana, can't wait to go back. So you have your work cut out for you. We loved the Melia because it it lies on a calm area of beach. We prefer that to the rolling waves. It was so calm by our resort that we spent the week floating on blow-up rafts. The resort and beach are breath taking but I have to admit, I hear that from anywhere along Bavaro Beach. E-mail if you have any specific questions and good luck with your decision.

I can add my recommendations for the Iberostar resort. (Bavaro villas/Punta Cana/Dominicana) Excellent stretch of beach, fine food, beautiful property in a tropical garden setting and wonderful service. I would disagree about the size of room in the Iberostar Bavaro villas. We found the rooms in the Punta Cana (mirror image of the Dominicana but newer) much more spacious (particularly the bathrooms) with better air circulation .. we often didn't need AC, and they had a balcony with pool/ oceanview if you are on 2nd -4th floor. We will opt for the Punta Cana again over the Bavaro .. not worth the extra $$ in our opinion.
