Priceline for St. Thomas or St. John????
Anyone ever get any good deals on "resorts" on Priceline.com??? I have heard of a few successes, but was curious if anyone had any good input or success stories from using this. Which hotel? how much? etc. any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! feel free to reply or email me.

Visit http://www.biddingfortravel.com to get a better idea of rates people are getting via priceline.

Kiwi: Was $150 your first bid via Priceline? Several people have been successful for well under $100. Unless you were bidding at a very busy time, it sounds like you really overbid!

I successfully bid $70/night for the Westin Resort on St. John for Sept. 2-9, 2002. We first tried $60/night, but that didn't take, so then we tried $70/night. I have also read on biddingfortravel.com about people getting the St. Thomas Renaissance for $80/night for March 21-25, 2002, the St. Thomas Marriott Frenchman's Reef for $75/night last October, etc.

I was so happy to see these posts today. This was my very question. I have been looking at Villas for Oct. on St John, then I suddenly realized we actually have 14 days to spend there. I was toying with the idea of bidding for both St John & Virgin Gorda. Any feedback..aside from the previous posts, which are very encouraging. I was not originally thinking of the Westin. But if these prices are really available, sounds worth it.

I just got back from 3 nights in St. Thomas at the Renaissance via Priceline. $70/night. Well worth it. Very nice beach and very close to all the activities on the East End of the Island, near Red Hook. Couldn't get anything on St. John. www.biddingfortravel.com would have all the up to date bids by other people. I don't think priceline offers anything in the BVI's.

Not to rain on your parade, but I would definitely rethink the Westin if I were you - at any price. Service is horrendous; meals are extremely pricey, and the accommodations just so so. There are so many wonderful places to stay on STJ, but the Westin would never be my choice. Check out the www.usvi-on-line.com website. You will not find very good reports on the Westin.

Westin is fine, especially at that price. And if you are the kind of person(like me) looking for super low prices on good hotels, you probably don't eat alot at your hotel anyway(almost always overpriced mediocre food). Always seems to be better and cheaper away from the hotel. JMHO
