JJUS BACK FROM SANDALS - IT WAS GREAT!!!!

Unlike many of the other posters here, we have nothing but praise for our week at Sandals Negril, from the minute we arrived until we left. We found the staff to be polite, helpful, and extremely friendly. Our room, right on beach, was extremely nice, with fully stocked bar, great room service anytime we wanted it, and a great balcony overlooking the beach. The food selection ranged from very good to excellent, with the food in the main dining room (which is served more of a cafeteria style) being at the bottom of the scale, while the food in the other venues was excellent. The drinks were good and free flowing, and the bar tenders were very funny. We found the water sports staff to be exceptional and the equipment was top notch. We were never bothered by vendors on the beach in front of Sandals, but did encounter them when we left the property. Sandals Negril has an excellent tennis center, with outstanding courts and top notch resident pros for lessons. We also found the grounds to immaculate and constantly being maintained. I fail to see how anyone can say the rooms and facilities are run down. Just NOT TRUE!

Granted, a week at Sandals is not cheap, but then neither is a week at any top rated resort, AI or not. If you have never been, one word of advice. Do not pay the rates shown in the brochures (rack rates). Work with a reputable travel agent, best ones are those that are Sandals Specialists, in order to get the best prices.

All in all, we found Sandals to be one of the most enjoyable vacations we have had, and will go back soon.

In case you were wondering, and before Goober and Ramjet and others begin blasting away, yes, we are very experienced travelers. We have traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, Canada, Caribbean,Mexico, as well as all over the USA, and have stayed in the full range from B&B to ultra expensive hotels like the Bristol in Paris (try $850 per night for a room at the Bristol and no breakfast or coffee or anything included). We rank Sandals right up there at the top of the places we have stayed.

For those of you that didn't like it, to each his own. We did, and we will return again and again and again.

It sucks, you suck, and the whold chain sucks. Oh you are so dumb Leon you are so dumb you set the world record for dumbness.....and on top of that you lie too....you liar. You have no idea what a real hotel is like do you? You are some dummy.

ramjet, your ignorance is showing. Why don't you leave this board and never come back? Ever since you started posting it has gone down hill fast. We don't need your kind here, not at all. Please just go now and never come back!

Don't know what all the anger is about, seems like there's some personal issues here rather than an objective opinion about Sandals. Sandals Negril may be very nice but some of the Sandals properties are lax in service-I'm glad Negril is still a good place to vacation--maybe the other Sandals can take notes on management.

OK, but didn't the tacky pool with "Sandals" written all over it and the equally tacky, roman columns and decor bother you? The place just looks like the epitome of tackiness.

I don't know, to me it just looks like it had the same Carnival cruise line/Las Vegas style decorating that makes me want to vomit. Not my idea of understated elegance.

Yep, I expect Too prefers the timeless elegance of Motel 6 or Days Inn, and the casual yet chic clothes available at K-Mart.....

Yes, I've been to Sandals Negril and it is a total joke. We stayed there 5 years ago when we were naive travellers but quickly learned from our mistake. Ugly decor, mediocre food, tacky rooms, terrible beach and a cheesy atmosphere.
Understated elegance? Let's try overstated cheesiness.
If you want understated elegance, go to Half Moon, Strawberry Hill or GoldenEye.

I would have to agree. We stayed at one Sandals resort two years ago and that was more than enough!! We would never waste our money again. The resort was tacky and full of loud, drunk people. Not my idea of a vacation.

How many times can the same person post on this thread under different names, offering the same opinion?

Denise,
We loved our Sandals experience. We had rooms that rivaled any room at Red Roof Inn and the musty smell of our room reminded me of our septic tank in our trailer back home.
Food you ask? Well, let me just say that it was even better than any of our wonderful meals at Outback and Red Lobster. Service was sketchy but who cares? 45 minutes for a drink is no big deal.
The beach was really great especially since I've never been to one before! I can't imagine a nicer one.
I just love how we were constantly reminded that we were at a Sandals resort. It's just lovely to see blinding logos all over! It reminded me of DisneyWorld and seeing little tokens of cheap commercialism.
You see, I'm an unseasoned traveler and I just don't know any better so I loved Sandals!!!
One has to only go to the Sandals website, then the Bristol website to wonder which "Bristol" hotel Leon visited. Was it Hotel le Bristol or was it the room attached to the Bristol Tavern? Being at Hotel le Bristol was absolutely nothing like Sandals. I can't believe you're even making a comparison? Did the Parisians spot a sucker a mile away and give you the janitor's room for $850 a night? My my.

Guys I truly had my say and was "through for now" yesterday; I see alot of people are passionate about their dream vacations and thats what these posts are all about!! Hopefully everyone can make their own conclusions from these different posts and make the vacation of their choice a wonderful experience. Remember Its you and your loved one thats going, NOT the people who had unfavorable instances. I for one had a wonderful time with my wife I was only stating my displeasure with the VALUE of the resort. Nothing can stand in the way of love!!!!!!

Leon didn't say he actually SLEPT in or VISITED any of the rooms at the Bristol. He simply ate breakfast there one morning.

I am NO fan of Sandals. In fact I don't like 90% of the hotels in the Caribbean. But I will say that it's very hard to find a luxurious hotel room in Paris if you're using American standards for comparison. Most of the best hotels in Paris charge $400-800 per night for rooms I wouldn't pay $175 for in Chicago. They're usually quite small, tiny bathrooms, poor showers. But they are charming and of historic interest.
