Has anyone done the powerboat adventure trip out of Nassau? worth the money?

Lynne;<BR> Do it! You go to the Northern chain of 365 Exuma Island islands. The true Bahamas are there, with a Land & Sea Park and turquoise colored shallow reefs. The islands visited, like Allen Cay, are Robinson Crusoe-type atmospheres. Nothing put-on and natural. Watch out for the iguanas...they can bite! Robert

My family (all 7 of us) did this trip last year. The previous year we did a trip with Barefoot Sailing. <BR>Powerboat is interesting. The ride is noisy and bumpy. The food good and drink is even better. The destination is BEAUTIFUL. We thought the shark and ray feeding was hokey! Also, one of the female staff was very rude.<BR>Would I take it again - NO! Was it worth it once, yes! I would take Barefoot Sailing to Rose Island over this for sure!

My husband I did this last year and really enjoyed. The boat ride was long and cold because you're travelling so fast (bring a wind breaker). First we landed to feed the iguanas which was fun. Interesting to see so many of them on the beach. The water there was beautiful and clear. While people were still feeding the iguanas I took a swim. Next we were off to their private island. It was very nice and secluded except for the not so wild boars which inhabit the island. They are as friendly as dogs but watch out they may nip while looking for food. Unfortunately many tourists feed them including alcohol. The baby boar are especially cute! Hikes were offerred through the island but we didn't go. The shark feeding was entertaining. Some people stayed in the water during the feeding for a better look. Snorkeling wasn't so good. The selection of fish and coral was minimal and the tide was so fast that you couldn't really enjoy it at your own pace. I even had a lot of trouble heading back to the beach and nearly went off in the direction where they warned us not to go because we'd head out to sea. The food was good too. All in all it was a really nice trip. Expensive but we thought it was worth it.

Anybody try Island World Adventures out of Nassau? I DK if it's the same as PowerBoat, but have heard many good things about the trip. It's a high-speed boat ride to the Exuma Cays, stopping first at Saddleback Cay, about 40 miles from Nassau in the Northern Exumas. You relax here and it's uninhabited. many shallow coral reefs for snorkeling too. Some visitors see turtles and a pod of dolphins which hangs out in the area. They have palm roofed decks where you eat Bahamian food. They do feed sharks, barracudas, stingrays and reef fish, a practice I'm against, but it's interesting. On the way back to Paradise Island, they stop off at Leaf Cay to see the wild iguanas(also on Allen's Cay, but they don't visit there). They take off from New Providence at the PI Ferry Terminal at 9am and return at 5pm. It includes lunch, pop, booze and snorkelling gear. they also give guided tours and transfers to and from your hotel.<BR> I DK if this operation is bad like the others listed above, but have heard people talk positively about the trip to northern Exuma Cays, which are beautiful and uninhabited. If anyones gone with them, let's hear from you, I am thinking about day trippin to Exuma with them. Robert<BR>

Our family of 4 did the Powerboat Adventure 2 years ago. We all though it was the hightlight of our trip. It's expensive, but you get a discount if you book in advance over the net. The snorkeling wasn't so hot due to the current. However, we really enjoyed feeding the iguanas and the rays. Took the hike and got a great view. Food was also very good. I'd say go for it.

Before I saw this post I posted a reply on things to do in Nassau and listed this as a "don't miss"!-We really loved it-fast boat ride-chilly unless you have a shirt or sweatshirt on but thrilling and really beautiful...great food, drinks, beautiful beaches and snorkeling and I personally loved feeding the rays-I don't get to have 4 foot animals suck food out of my hand very often-it was a tremendous experience!
