Plantation Inns- MAP or EP

Dear All,

My husband and I are planning a long overdue honeymoon to St. Kitts & Nevis this April. Having read the listings, we've settled on the Nisbet Plantation on Nevis for the first 7 days and finishing our trip at the Ottley plantation on St. Kitts for 3 days. There is a substantial price difference between the all inclusive and room only fees for the Ottley plantation. My question is: Which should we choose? Usually, we are big b-fast eaters followed by dinner. We like to plant on the beach or the pool during the day. The Ottley plantation does not list its menu or prices for breakfast or dinner. Any and all thoughts are appreciated. Thanks so much!

I assume you are familar with the prices at Nisbet as you only mentioned prices at Ottleys. However, just in case, at Nisbet breakfast is free, and dinners, without the all inclusive, are about $55 US, each. However, most people enjoy eating at some of the other great restaurants during their stay on the islands, and an all inclusive kind-of ties you down.

Dear Tech,

Will you have a car on St. Kitts to go to other restaurants (a 20-30 minute drive) or are you wondering if it would be more economical to order a la carte?

Since you're only there for three days, if you're planning to eat your meals at Ottley's, I think the meal plan is your best bet, and probably more economical in the long run. Have a big breakfast, and enjoy the four-course dinner. The food is said to be excellent there.

I would ask Ottley's for the cost of their meals, and check out the reviews of tripadvisor where some people have addressed the meal plan issue.

The food is great at both those places. . but I think you spend enough time there already without locking yourself into dinner every day.
Just my opinion though, and it kind of depends on your rest-of-the-day plans.
DOn't they offer you an option of a certain number of dinners that you can pick the days for?

Excellent choice in accommodations!
Many people enjoy the EP plan so they can get out and try the local restaurants.

Ballahoo in Basseterre
Sprat Net on Old Road
Turtle Beach Bar & Grill
Mr. X's Shiggidy Shack on Frigate Bay
Shipwreck's at South Friar's

I've heard the meals at Ottleys is excellent.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you have a great time.
