Need to know when you are going, hurricane season is coming up. Unless you plan on going to one of the ABC islands, hurricanes still may have some effect on them but not as much as most of the other Caribbean islands. Budget, interests and ages of people going would also be helpful. Safety factors also play a big role in where you may or MAY NOT want to go.

Welcome to the Fodor's travel forums!
But we need to know more... Where is your home airport? Make up of your party - are you solo, a young couple, an older couple, a family with young kids, with teenagers? Will you rent a car? Also what style you are looking for - budget in town, rustic in the jungle, mid-range hotel, high-end all-inclusives on a beach, or somewhere rural and secluded? What are the interests of everyone?
Probably one general print guidebook for the Caribbean would help you get started. I think it's great to look at the photos, maps, read about history to choose between where you want to go. This question made me double-check online but there are 7000 islands in the Caribbean.
I have had good times in - Jamaica, Dominican Republic, USVI - but who knows if those would be right for you.

The Caribbean may look small, but you're talking thousands of islands with hundreds of them with infrastructure. This is a complete Guide to the Caribbean Islands so you can at least narrow it down based on your interest. And once you have done that, you can then venue out and request or seek more detailed information about the places that interest you. That guide will tell you all the most popular places, the safest, most dangerous, cheapest, most expensive etc etc. So narrow it down by those categories first, and then go from there. Also, when are you planning on going?
My favorite is Aruba, St. Thomas, and Turks! But the options are endless my friend!
