Peter Island or St. Vincent and the Grenadines (Mustique)

Hello fellow fodorites! Has anyone been to Peter Island resort or The Cotton House in the Grenadines? If so which one would you choose for a Honeymoon in May and why? I have been to Anguilla, Turks and Caicos, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Nevis, Bermuda and the Bahamas-so didn't want to repeat them for this event. I welcome any other suggestions for quieter type islands with smaller resorts, nightlife is not a necessity, but beautiful beaches are. Thanks in advance.

Somewhat more casual, but very private accommodations right on the beach, is Petit St. Vincent in the Grenadines. See

I've been to both, both are gorgeous.

Peter Island: a little easier to get to, easier to island hop day trips to other Virgin Islands. Deadman's Bay is stunning, covered in palm trees, postcard gorgeous. The pool area is nice. Restaurant is decent, not the best meals you've ever had, but good enough. The snorkeling is great. The rooms are nice, not great (unless they've changed them--it's been about 6 years since my last visit.)

Cotton House reminds me of One & Only in Bahamas (Paradise Island). It's elegant and quiet, feels like a rich man's hideaway. Mustique itself is a little farther than the "grouping" of the Grenadines, so a little harder to explore from there, but you can go to Bequia, and maybe if water conditions are right, Tobago Cays. Basil's is the only real restaurant there, and it's a celebrity, but quiet haven. Macaroni Beach is nice, but I personally for my tastes think Peter Island's beaches are prettier. Snorkeling is just okay.

Not to confuse you even more, but you may want to consider:

Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda, VG is stunning!

Or Raffles in Canouan in the Grenadines--beautiful resort, with easier access to hoping around the gorgeous islands of the Grenadines: Mayreau, Palm Island, Tobago Cays, even fun little tiny Mopion.

Guana Island or Biras Creek.

Cotton House can be stuffy, and Peter Island is a little too Junior League/Greenwich Field Club for my taste... "Alles Gut!"

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I really appreciate them. I think I have ruled out both Peter Island and Cotton House. Starting looking at Caneel Bay, Little Dix Bay and Carlisle in Antigua. So, if you have any suggestions, please let me know. I am spoiled after having been to Anguilla. I want a hotel that has a separate area for rooms. I stayed at Cuisinart and didn't feel I was at a hotel when in my room. I also like to be on the beach. Thanks for the help.

Liesl-thanks for your recommendation. Have you stayed there before? I looked at the website and there are 4-5 different numbers 7B, 7C, 7F, etc. Is there a difference in them or are they pretty much the same?

Cottage 7 - D and E are on the top floor of the two-story structure, with large balconies and great views. We always stay there. The rooms downstairs are also very nice, with spacious terraces. One room is in a small "annex," and is not recommended, but for the LIFE of me, I cannot remember its room #! These are the priciest rooms at Caneel, but definitely worth it, if money is not an issue. "Alles Gut!"
