Peach & Quiet

Hello all you Caribbean Travelers!!!

I have been doing a lot of research on different places to stay in Barbados for my next vacation (February of '03). I had pretty much decided on the Bougainvillea Beach Resort until I came accross a comment in one of the threads on Fodors that mentioned a place by the name of Peach & Quiet. I've looked at their web site and it seems very nice, small but nice. Not fancy but nice.

Is there anyone out there that has stayed at Peach & Quiet that is willing to offer their opinion? Their prices seem so low it makes me wonder if it is too good to be true. I'm wondering about the swimability (is that a word?) of the ocean in front of the hotel. Is the hotel right under the flight path of the airport? Is this a good location for a couple looking for a Barbados vacation.

I've only stayed there briefly, while in transit to other islands, but have met others staying there for 10 days or more who loved it.

Before posting this note to you, I did a quick search using Google for reviews from 'real people(both a websearch and a group search). They all seemed very positive. So you could try this route as a way to supplement any responses you get to this post. The snorkelling pond in particular got rave reviews. And no, I didn't particularly notice any noise from aircraft during my stay.

Hope this helps a little.

I should have added that the snorkelling site is a man-made lagoon. The beach itself is a bit rough with rocks (but much more interesting than the tame West Coast, IMHO). There is a nice pool.

Bob,
I posted a similar question on the Barbados section of Caribbean-On-Line http://www.caribbean-on-line.com/br/brforum.shtml. You may want to view the response from Nicky. The post was around 10-14, a little from the top of the page.

I did not end up going to Barbados but did speak with the owner, Margaret, on two occasions. Of note: two beaches, Silver Sands and Womens' Bay; stressed just how quiet the hotel is; security from dusk to dawn; recent improvements to several rooms.

There is a great view of the hotel rooms, pool, and exterior shots located at http://www.travelhop.com/database/ho...p?i=2&h=61.

I was also worried about airplane noise. If you end up going will you please post a trip report on http://www.traveltalkonline.com/wwwt.../wwwthreads.pl? We have a new Southern Caribbean forum and would love the addition. Best regards, E.D.

Please excuse my last message-I forgot that markup didn't work on this forum. Just copy/paste the address between the "[ ]".

To curiousx: I would really appreciate it if you would particpate in the new Southern Caribbean Forum at http://www.traveltalkonline.com. You have so much knowledge of this area and would be warmly received by the people who frequent the board. Registration is NOT necessary and there are not many "junk" postings, etc. If you want to post under "response to Southern Caribbean forum" that would be great. Thanks in advance and hope you will join us! E.D.

My husband, myself, our son and daughter-in-law stayed at the Peach and Quiet for a week in March 2002. The hotel itself is pretty basic, clean but no air or TV(I have never watched TV on any of our numerous trips to the Caribbean) It is located on the south-east coast in a middle class residential area. We felt very safe walking at night. You would need a car though as it is somewhat isolated. There is swimming in front of the hotel in a natural sheltered rock pool and there is a very clean pool as well. If you walk down a little way by the water there is a nice beach in front of the Silver Rock Hotel.Check out the kite surfers. When we stayed there most of the the other guests were from England (the owners Magaret and Adrian are British). The food was absolutley fabulous, both breakfast and the candle light dinners. We thought that the dinners were the best keep secret on the island. If you want something a little out of the ordinary with very friendly and helpful service,I would highly recommend the Peach and Quiet. Don't forget the Ostin's fish fry on Friday nights.

Just back from a wonderful week. Stayed at Peach and Quiet on the south end of the island not far from Oistins but definitely off the beaten path. They have a fabulous deal that includes 7 breakfasts, four dinners at the hotel, one dinner at Carambola, two day car hire, Tiami catamaran cruise and admission to some of the islands attractions. The owners and staff are delightful and help in every way possible to make sure you enjoy your stay. The food was delicious! There is no beach right in front of the hotel but there is a rock pool that has amazing snorkelling. Silver Rocks and Silver Sands beaches are a few minutes walk away. Lots of wind and therefore kite boarding and wind surfing. We loved it here, away from the crowds and very charming. Not fancy, rooms are comfortable and simple but nice. At present there is some exterior work being done (painting)but it's an incredible place to relax. We can't wait to go back!
