Paradisus - Punta Cana - Music around pool and beach?

We are looking at either Excellence or Paradisus-Punta Cana.

I was leaning towards the Paradisus, but I read one review that said there is quite loud music around the pools and beach. This is something that would drive me crazy. We are looking for peace and quiet and a very relaxing, laid-back vacation. We both read and music can be very distracting.

Can anyone who has been to the Paradisus let me know if there is in fact a lot of music around the property?

(I'm not speaking about nice, quiet, spa type music. I mean more "trying to be a party atmosphere" type of music.)

Oh, and any other information about either property is appreciated. Thanks!

TIA

Stayed at Excellence 2 years ago the resort is about a hour away from the punta cana airport. The resort its self is a nice resort it is clean and has a friendly staff, they also have some different animals that are around the property, a rooster flamingos, peacocks, rabbits. We enjoyed our stay there rooms are nice not as fancy as some of the other resorts we have stayed at, the food is ok some restaraunts are better than others but all in all a nice resort. We are returning to punta cana on 5/12/08 we are going to try the paradisus this time not sure when you are traveling but if we return before you go I will advise on the paradisus. Enjoy your trip

We stayed at Paradisus last year. I honestly don't remember the music at the pool being especially loud, and I'm sensitive to noise. I thought the music at the Paradisus in Costa Rica was pretty intrusive.

What I've found with the big resorts is that they'll have one pool with music, activities, games, etc. and one that is quiet and peaceful.

Peace, Greenie

We had the royal service or something (sorry, can't remember the name) and had access to a separate pool area for adults only. I can't say the people were especially tame, lol, but it was fairly peaceful, noise-wise. Excellent and fun bartenders at that pool. We really enjoyed it, and we never used the larger pool area.
