Negril's Magnetic Pull

As much as we tried to convince ourselves another location in Jamaica would be good for us, we were actors without a script. We have re-booked our favorite place on this planet for our two week vacation this May! My wife said it was the best Valentine's Day gift EVER! This will be my 20th anniversary of my first trip to Negril. As much as it has changed since that first trip, it is how little it has changed that continues to draw me there.

CS. Thats what is called Irie mon. I was watching "Cool Runnings" a few days ago and thoguht of returning to Jamaica again. I hope to some day. For now we are hooked on cruising however. For me a land vacation is fine, no problem. However my better half really likes cruising for many reasons not the least of which is getting Indian food (she originates from there) per request after our first nights dinner. They will gladly make it for you. Also she has a bit of a phobia about lizards. I will have to work hard to convince her to return to the tropics. Take care, Larry

Thats great news, Caribbeansoul! If you love Negril that much, why mess with a good thing. We will someday go back to Negril but not this year. Hopefully a hurricane won't swoop by next time! Where are you staying?

JW, yes, the irie vibe that is Negril, is rarely found anywhere else!

Brenda: Part of the draw is our love of Coco La Palm. It is the perfect, no frills, right on the beach, resort that has everything we need. They have an outstanding staff, a great beach, great chaise lounges with towel service (very important). The accommodations are fairly standard, but very spacious with a mini fridge. The grounds are immaculate and the two pools are very well maintained. The location on a scale of 10 is a 10. As repeat visitors since 2002, we are treated like family with sad goodbyes at the conclusion of every trip. When my step-daughter learned of our change in plans, she started dancing around like a jitter bug. It is a special place to all of us.

That is great Brett! Are all of the kids going?

We are planning to go in June or July.I cannot wait to go!

I had a long talk with an older gentleman who has been to Negril about 6 times. He loves it there and has traveled alot in the Caribbean. He said the Jamaicans are wonderful people.

Have fun!

Brett, Glad to hear you are returning to your favorite place. Did you get one of the Junior Suites? I never did see those rooms. I agree CLP is "no frills" but the location more than makes up for it. We loved our beachfront room. I know Idle Awhile next door gets better reviews, but I saw one of the rooms and didn't really think it was any "better". We would definitely stay ar CLP again. Please write a little trip report when you return.

Christie: Yes, the entire family (including the twins) are going.

Brenda: I most certainly will post a report upon my return. I most likely will post a couple of "on-site" reports from their internet room, as well! I am glad that room worked out for you....you can't be much closer to the water without being over it! Idle Awhile is definitely the most upscale beach resort. But we don't spend a whole lot of time in our room and like the fact that there are a couple of pools and the more spread out feel CCLP has. We will never be able to stay anywhere else. We didn't book a JR Suite due to the fact that they are 2nd floor rooms. We booked a very nice beachfront room on the ground level.

Glad you're so excited about the trip, and I know just what you mean about the magnetic pull of a place--it's what I call the siren's call. Sorry that you'll be missing out on another part of Jamaica but I know'll you have a terrific time introducing your twins to one of your favorite places.
