need help from the canadians!!

If i usually fly out of Detroit when I vacation, is it possible for me to fly out of Canada (legally) and save money due to the exchange rate? Has any Americans done this and is it worth the hassle (if there is one)?

It's perfectly legal and besides the exchange rates, there are many good packages available out of QUEBEC as well as TORONTO. Go for it.

I went to Turks and Caicos last year and the couple on the airplane beside me drove 5 hours to get to Toronto because they got a good last-minute deal.

I wouldn't suggest Cuba without a lot of checking. I talked with a Cuban-America last year who was told everything would be ok. She flew from Florida to Toronto to Cuba only to be denied entry. The airline then had to take her back to Toronto.

Actually a lot of the charter flights out of Toronto are filled with people from the Buffalo area. They make out quite well with the exchange rates/packaged vacations

If you are interested in Jamaica. There is s great deal only available from flights originating in Canada called "Lido Lottery".
This gives you a chance of going to any of the Grand Lido Resorts in Jamaica. The prices are quoted in Canadian Dollars.

Any travel agent in Canada would be happy to book this for you.

To help in your search, the main tour package operators in Canada are:

-Air Canada (www.aircanada.ca)
-Signature (www.signaturevacations.com)
-Sunquest (www.sunquest.ca)
-Conquest (www.conquestvacations.com)
-Alba (www.albatours.com)

Just remember the prices are quoted in Canadian dollars, so multiply by .66 to get the approximate U.S. equivalent.
