Yes Faith, it does sound like a wonderful idea ;-)
Of course we'd have to have some sort of screening process in place. You know, to be sure that all atendees would be "upscale clientele" and not "riff-raff" ;-) And we'd certainly need to be sure that there's no "poverty" in sight !

Faith and Marion:
yes we need to have a "Fodorites" meeting in the Caribbean somewhere.I have learned that there are some wonderful people on this forum.
Just keep the trolls away from the place that we choose.
I am sure being that everyone is from different parts of the continent that we would never run out of interesting conversations.

"Diana, all this time I've been thinking that you must be some kind of she-woman for biking UP the Blue Mountains."
Shoot, I've ruined my rep.
Everyone's trip plans sound absolutely awesome. I can't wait to hear all about them!
Marion, dear, would ANY of us stay somewhere that did not have "upscale clientele"?
That just simply would not do dahling...

Hey now advsrbill,
I just re-read your report of Caneel Bay. Yes indeedie you sure do have an open mind. Learned a lot about West Indian lingoistic history. Boy, the way they can mangle dee Inglish langwich.
Do you think (maybe) that the locals might have picked up on your rich, spoiled, arrogant, and ignorant American vibe?
Just wondering.
mm - that's lowercase - get it right

mm - advrsbill and joanie have not been back recently.
This is because they have been secretly communicating with each about their mutual desire to stay at only the most "fabu" of places.
They have run off together to an exclusive enclave where they can soak in marble bathtubs while watching CNN and talking on the phone ("BUY! SELL!"
and not have to encounter any disrepectful locals.
Perhaps they will grace us with a trip report when they return.

Hi mm,
Joaniejd reminded me, from the beginning, of KatieKate who also wants THE MOST UPSCALE resorts, and of course a private pool, when she travels with her daughter, who will eternally be 16 ;-), sweet or otherwise.
It's not that I spend all day looking up old posts, it's just that journalistic research instinct in me.
I have defined them as vicarious travelers. Give me lots of details and I can impress my friends with where I've been...at least in the *mind* ;-)
How's that for cynicism on a Monday morning ?

mm: I had been so incensed about advsrbill's awful comments that I looked at his past posts and apparently he's been to Caneel Bay before. Instead of just saying he felt service was going downhill IHO, he had to get... I can't even go into it again. It's not even a wealth and luxury question. If he had said those things to a local, he could have deserved a roughing up because them is "fighting words." Equally reprehensible, he deigns to criticize the posters on this thread. More power to St. Johnians who would not kiss tourist A** for a dollar.
