Montego Bay Wyndham Resort

I am going to Jamaica in November for a friends wedding and about 30 friends are staying at the Wyndham Rose Hall Resort. Has anyone stayed there. What are your thoughts on the resort? Good and Bad.

I wrote a complete review of this resort on epinions.com under reviewer name lucybelle43. Basically, it's not a bad place but don't expect anything luxurious. If you are with a big group of friends, you will have a fun time. The rooms were clean. We did not go AI and were very happy with decision. I would be happy to answer any questions.

Thanks for the reply back! It should be a good time with a group of people going. How is the beach? I heard it was small and wasn't one of the better ones. Is it easy to get to some of the better beaches or should I stay at Wyndham? I also keep hearing that Jamiaca is very poor and dirty. What are you thoughts on the Island.

The beach is kind of narrow but I thought it was okay. It was good enough for us. There were lots of chairs available. You can also go to the Rose Hall Beach club where they have a bigger beach. My husband is not a beach person so we spent a lot of time at the pool. There is both a regular pool and then the water park. The water park was mobbed with kids when we were there and it was impossible to get a tube or walk without a zillion kids running into you. The other pool was almost empty so we hung out there. They have nice cabana tent-things which are free so you can get out of the sun. Jamaica is poor, no doubt about that, but I really liked it. The people were friendly and the island was lush and scenic. Keep in mind that if you decide to eat away from the resort, pretty much every restaurant will come and pick you up and bring you back for free (although we tipped the driver). Iwould not stay at the Wyndham again but I would definitely visit Jamaica again.

Wyndham's a decent place -- but get outside the resort. Since you're a group of friends, hire a good guide and take off for a daytrip or two away from 'the city'. Horseback riding at Good Hope plantation or Paradise Park,Mayfields Falls,YS/Black River, snorkeling at Font Hill, spleunking at Quashie River Sink, a round of golf at Tryall,a 'ladies only' spa day at the Ritz -- your opportunities are legion. There may also be 13-18 Nov at film/music fest right at the hotel.
