Check out www.caymanvillas.com for the info your looking for. There are a few in the 7MB area, but you'll find more condos. The north side of the island has several villas for rent also.

Most of the nicer private homes are in the Cayman Kai area which is on the opposite and much quieter side of the island about a 45 minute to an hour drive from 7 MB. I have seen one or two homes near the 7 MB area but they are at the most northern section furthest away from town. The rest of 7 MB is almost exclusively condos and a few hotels.

Try Villa Postiano (not sure if correct spelling) through cayman villas.

Good luck.

I checked out caymanvillas.com and it was very nice but I guess I have another question. Can I get some advice as to the different parts of Grand Cayman? What differentiates each part? Is one quiet? Is one the best snorkeling? My husband and I like to rent a car and explore and possible hit Cayman Brac for a day and Little Cayman for a day. Is that possible? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Cayman Kai is quite a drive for dinner ect. It's secluded but, they have a ferry that comes to rum point several times a day. I personally like staying towards west bay or south sound. I like to be far enough away from the crowds but able to jump into a rental and go to dinner. Did you see Villa de Este? It's located between south sound and georgetown, not much of a beach but a central location. You would have good access to snorkeling. The beaches are best towards west bay (my opinion). Cayman Kai would be about a 30 min drive one way to go out for dinner. They do have a few places to eat at cayman Kai but not great choices. Good luck and I'm happy to help!

I guess my next question is:
How far are Brac and Little by boat?
My second question is:
What is the best location for nice beach, snorkeling and near the best restaurants on the island?
We will definitely rent a car.
Thanks for the info Cayman420!

hc11238,
Your not going to find a private villa in the 7MB area. The one cayman 420 recommended goes for $9000 a week. Yikes!! I also totally disagree with cayman 420 about the Cayman Kai area. If your looking for seclusion and a nice villa, that's the area you need to look at, and there are several very good restaurants in the area. Cayman Kai is a residential area, so few tourists and NO cruise ship people!! Also, I don't believe you can take a boat to Cayman Brac or Little Cayman, just a small plane. There's good snorkeling all over the island, and if your renting a car, you'll be able to hit them all, but the Cayman Kai area and the east end are excellent snorkel sites also. It's a matter of what you want in a vacation, as far as the area of GC to stay at. We have been staying in the Cayman Kai area for 15 years and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. We like the peace and quiet, and the feel of the north side. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me. Just include Cayman in the subject line so I don't delete it.

I agree with Sandy on the north and east end of Grand Cayman - we love it. The last two times we split our stay between the 7MB area for 3 days and a week on the east end. 3 days of the 7MB area is usually enough for me, and then we head to the "quiet" side for excellent snorkeling and empty beaches. I believe the only way to get between the Cayman Islands is to fly, for about $100/person. Check out one of the Cayman websites to see if this has changed recently.

hc11238,
Yes, villa postiano is VERY expensive. I would still stick with caymanvillas and check out their offerings. If you want to stay connected and go out to dinner every night then, you will want to stay close to 7MB. It just depends on what you are really looking for, if you want seclusion then go for east end or cayman kai. To be honest, you cant go wrong in GCM. As far as the time involved in going by boat to the brac or little cayman, it can be done but you would need to charter a boat (that could be expensive). I'm not sure how long you will be on holiday and if time will be a factor.
You might check into spotts, it's just north of south sound and very quiet with great snorkeling. Beach bay might be another great option.
Good luck.

The only private rental villa directly on 7MB that I'm familiar with is the Coral Reef villa. I looked at their pool when I was walking by and it looked just like the pictures on caymanvillas.com. There are several nice looking villas on the northern end of 7MB but I don't know if they rent or not. Of course not all condos or villas are for rent and some only rent monthly. I looked at a few villas in the Cayman Kai area, and at least in the off season when I was there it was too quiet and too few restaurants in the area for our taste, plus the beaches were not as nice as 7MB. Rum Point is the Hyatt's property and it was touristy. We met a couple staying in Kai who said they ended up making the long trip every day to 7MB for the beach and the restaurants, so they were not planning on staying in Kai next time. But I understand how others want that seclusion, and it is a unique and beautiful place. Theres a guy call Jeff at jeffsresorts.com that rents a few houses just off north 7MB in West Bay, and that might be an interesting way to experience the island. The term villa is used pretty loosely around the Caribbean. A lot of houses and condos just call themselves villas since that sounds grander. I have seen condos that are private and upscale and villas that were just plain houses without much luxury or privacy, so I guess it all depends what you are really looking for by looking for a villa.

Thanks for all the great info.
We are definitely looking for a place near 7MB, restaurants and snorkeling. We are also looking for a semi private, newer villa/private house. I do not think we want to stay in a condo complex. I checked out WIMCO, caymanvillas.com, etc and all those sites and its all basically the same offerings. One house that grabbed my attention was the "Cats Meow" but personally it kills me to pay for a 2 bedroom when we only need one. Any word on the new Ritz Carlton? It seems to me that they keep pushing back the opening date. We always stay at hotels/resorts but I would love to experience a villa. We are thinking about Dec or Jan.
Sorry for all my questions but these boards are addicting!!!!!!

I think white sands has an ocean view 1 bedroom but, it's not a new property.
Jeff's Resorts are pretty affordable but again, they arent new. You might check london house and victoria house, I think they also have 1 bdrm.
I agree with you posting on the boards, I just love it! You really do get a lot of helpful information.
