Looking for snorkeling opportunites in Grenada or the Grenadines...
Aside from the obvious Tobago Cays which we definitely plan to do, where whould we head for the best snorkeling combined with ease of access? Bequia? Mayreau? Canouan? Carriacou? Union? (Can't really afford to stay on Mustique!)
I've fallen a little bit in love with Bequia in my research on it, but there's not a lot of detail that I've found about snorkeling from there. I'd love it if you told me that Bequia has the best, but please let me know if there is someplace else I should explore underwater.
Thanks!

ej,
I don't know if this would help, but we went out with the dive boats everyday to different sites. We left from very near the Gingerbread House. We were always the only nondivers. I think it was $10 for each of us. I prefer to just walk out and snorkel, but this was not a bad alternative. Owa

That might be a good way to do it, Owa. Were these all-day trips, or for just a few hours? While I definitely want to do a full day trip with the Tobago Cays, I want to make sure I have some daylight time for seeing the rest of Bequia (or whichever island I choose, but am leaning heavily toward Bequia now).
Thanks!

There is off the beach snorkelling at either end of Lower Bay. Also a short reef off the dick at Friendship Bay Hotel and another in front of the Gingerbread A frame. You can drift down from the dock. Off the beach snorkelling at Anse Chemin, but a heckuva hike in - best to go with the dive boat. Also from Park Bay, a drift snorkel outside the reef all the way to Spring Bay. Do this at high tide only and with someone who has done it before.

and I forgot to mention Rocky Bay at the far far end of Admiralty Bay beyond Hamilton Village. You can take a goat path down to the beach or (better) a water taxi will drop you off and pick you up again.
