looking for a quiet beautiful island with available villas to rent not too pricey, and a pool, and other sports available
My husband and i are looking for a quiet (and safe) island to get away to. We are a young couple who are going on vacation alone since I had our first baby. So we would like to find a place that is not full of tourists or a childrens place, even though we do love children. I would like to rent a villa with a pool and not too far from the beach, walking distance. I dont know much about the carribbean islands or the safest place to go, so if someone could give me some info. we would greatly appreaciate it. thanx

Look into Estate Lindholm or Argonauta Villa in St. John. Using Google or Lycos type out the above plus St. John. Destination St. John is a villa rental company that you could also refer to. Turtle Beach Resort in Barbados is highly rated. All depends on your budget and time of year. Rincon Puerto Rico is quiet--fly American Eagle into Mayaguez and short drive to Rincon--Sunshine Villas or Lazy Parrot Inn. Unless you're going to a couples resort there is the possibility of children. Rendezvous Resort in St Lucia is a couples resort. Island Hideaways is another villa rental company.

I agree with Sandy. My wife and I
stayed at Argonauta 2 years ago. Gorgeous villa but it may be to big
for you. It's a 4 bedroom but the
views are spectacular. High on
a hill and 5 min. from town and about
15 from all the Northshore beaches. St. John is a fabulous island. It's safe,
clean and pristine beaches. There are many many villas to choose from.

onlivevacations.com is another site.

Definitely check out St. John. Another
villa is Stoneridge.

Good luck!

Mimi, we were pleasantly surprised to find a number of villas that are reasonably priced and have pools on the island of Anguilla.
Check out mycaribbean.com
Many of the hotels on the island also have "villas" for lease. These are more or less self contained, have kitchenettes, but also have the services of a hotel (restaurant, concierge, etc).
Hope this helps!
Best wishes on you travels!!

I would suggest one of my favorite islands, Aruba. It is a very clean, European owned island. We went horseback riding and loved seeing the island that way but you can also feel comfortable renting or joining a Jeep
island tour! It also has casino's, for something extra to do. I love the island and felt very safe there! You deserve a wonderful place to recharge
your parental batteries! Good for you for making the time to do so!!

I just read a brief article on a newly opened (2001) cottage resort--Ti Kaye Village in St. Lucia--"located on remote west coast --is nestled along one of the island's most beautiful and secluded beaches and exudes charm, intimacy and elegance-33 private cottages with large verandas with hammocks, open-air garden showers & King 4 poster beds--A Caribben restaurant and Bar overlook the beautiful bay, home to ST. Lucia's popular shipwreck dive site and the best reefs the island has to offer". See tikaye.com
