Lighthouse Point

Does anyone have any information on the Lighthouse Point section of the Westin Our Lucaya on Grand Bahama Island? My internet research tells me it exists, but so far my attempts to track down any information about it have proved futile (e.g., the people I spoke to from the Westin reservation line had never heard of it). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Right. I read that thread but still haven't had any luck when trying to communicate with the Westin people. Most act as if they've never heard of it.

Wow. That is weird. Did you try calling the hotel directly?Unfortunately, that would mean long distance phone bill, but I'm not sure how else to help you.
Good luck.

We stayed at Lighthouse Point a few years ago and loved it. I recently was looking at their website since I was considering returning there. There was nowhere in the reservation section to choose that area, so I emailed them. Their response was pretty much that I could call and request that area, but they wouldn't guarantee. So, needless to say, I'm not going back there this year. I would not pay their price to stay in any of their other buildings. If you're going in off-season, you might have some luck with getting that building.

Thanks. I sent an email today. Hopefully I'll get some sort of reponse. If not, I'll try calling the hotel directly.

We just returned from the Westin Our Lucaya a couple of weeks ago and stayed at Lighthouse Point. Made our reservations through the Westin Reservation service and had no problem requesting Lighthouse Point. When we got to the hotel, they asked how we knew about it--I said the internet. There are signs all over the place identifying that section as Lighthouse Point. If you don't hear from them, try the reservations line again--they probably can't guarantee you a room there but if you're going soon should be no problem. The resort was pretty empty the end of January.

I know this is an old post, but maybe I'll get a response. I have requested the Breaker's Cay building at the Westin in Our Lucaya Grand Bahamas. That's what had been suggested at the flyertalk board. Is Lighthouse Point better? What's the difference? I'd appreciate any guidance.

Thanks,

Elaine

Breaker's Cay is a 10 story high rise in the middle of the complex. Sheraton Reef Village is to the west and Lighthouse Point to the east. Lighthouse is only 3 stories and most of the rooms have a limited or no ocean view. Most rooms overlook Bell Channel or face the marina. We personally enjoy Breaker's Cay far more because it's in the middle of the resort and there isn't a bad ocean view (if you pay for that type room) in the whole building, even on the second floor. It is much more quiet up at Lighthouse Pointe and sometimes the beach bar and grill, Waves, isn't open for business. I've never had a complaint to make about the rooms at Westin but some people do like the rooms at Lighthouse more. To each his own.
