AIR FRANCE or AIR SEYCHELLES -- not BA --is the way to go, landing on main island of Mahe, then a 15 min.puddle jumper flight over to Praslin. Apr-May
when the lull in the moonsoon winds
season occurs can be best time to visit.
A long flight from US so a week holiday
will be cramped. Per diems are right up there but the experience is memorably
one-of-a-kind.Avoid the US$1,000/night and up places now almost entirely
Mauritean rather than Seychellois in
character. L'Archipel on Praslin and
a small islet with a luxe lodge off Cote d'Or beach on Praslin called Chauvre Souris are recommended.

laustic:
I found La Digue to be gorgeous, but overall ranks about 5-6th on my list!
Maldives completely my number 1, followed by:
Loved the Cooks, love Bora Bora for the scenery, but think the beaches of Anguilla and Turks and Caicos and Exumas to have prettier water. (I know, hard to believe)
I think overall, depends on my mood, or what beach I'm on at the time!
People watching? I love Mexico or St. Martin. Water? Maldives, Anguilla, T&C. Scenery? Bora Bora, Moorea, La Digue (Seychelles) Virgin Gorda, St. John, Cooks.
The beauty of a travel board, is that tastes are subjective-so there are fans/haters for everywhere.
Places I don't need to return? (Sorry fans out there-just not my tastes): India, Costa Rica, Bequia, Fiji, Hawaii, Singapore, Australia, Grenada, St. Barth, I could go on.....and all have different reasons.
Of course, if someone really wanted to go to those, I probably wouldn't turn it down! ;-)

To answer a post the most perfect beaches I have ever visited are Uig and Luskentyre, both on the Isle of Lewis/Harris.
Of course the temperature there in mid summer can vary between 50 degrees and 85 degrees, more usually at the lower end.. but last summer we had Uig (the beach itself is several square miles in size) almost to ourselves.... less than 20 people on the entire vast expanse of sand.... and temperature was HOT.... perfect day

Mmmmmm...Scottish Islands...you've described my total fantasy destination. I'm hoping to sneak over to Scotland (would be my first time) on my next visit to London (June 2008). But I'm not sure I'll make it to the Isles.
