Just back from Turks & Caicos!

My boyfriend and I just got back from our first vacation to Turks & Caicos. We stayed for 5 nights at the Sands Resort in a courtyard studio. We didn't want to spend too much money on accommodations because we knew we would be out and about everyday. It was an unbelievable trip! What a beautiful place!
Everyone was so friendly and helpful and always quick with a smile.
The beach along Grace Bay is gorgeous. The water looks amazingingly clear with its shades of blue/emerald/turquoise.
The weather was almost perfect. When it would rain, it would only be for 15 minutes and then the sun would come out beaming again. The only day that the rain lasted longer was yesterday, but we didn't mind because we were leaving anyway. It rained for about 2.5 hours and then as we were getting on the plane, the rain stopped and the sun popped back out.
If you have any questions, I would be more than happy to help.

Would you like to go to Turks again, or would you rather try new island? Were mosquitos a problem?

We would most certainly go back again.
The mosquitoes were not as bad as I thought it would be. I got a few bites but it was nothing bad. I brought Deet OFF! and it worked pretty well. Most restaurants on the island usually also keep a can of mosquito spray behind the counter.

Did you take any tours? If so, how were they? Did you see Comfort Suites? Is Turks your favorite island/vacation destination?

Hi,
We took one tour with J&B. It was the 3 hour Beach Cruise. We had a wonderful guide, it was a terrific trip. No I didn't get a chance to check out Comfort Suites.
I haven't been to too many vacation destinations, but as of now, I would have to say that Turks & Caicos is my favorite.

Can you describe how the courtyard room at the Sands was? We are thinking about going there in June and we're wondering on the size/proximity to the beach? Is it worth the extra $ to have a garden view? We also plan to be out alot.

Hi,
The courtyard rooms are 400 square feet in size. They don't have a screened-in balcony but that was fine with us. It has a mini-kitchen (microwave, sink, dishes, mini refrigerator). Queen size bed. Bathroom with a shower (no full size tub). I think the resort has courtyard studios in all the different buildings so it's hard for me to estimate the proximity to the beach. The courtyard room that we stayed in was a 2 minute walk to the beach. No big deal. We were pretty happy that we didn't spend more for a room cause we were out and about most of the time. Hope this helps.
