just back from St John...
Stayed in a villa up above Cruz Bay (Enzo's Retreat thru carefreegetaways.com-ok service but GREAT house). I don't see the need to go anywhere else! Amazing beaches(loved Cinnamon Bay,Lameshur Bay),great exploring potential, great snorkeling(loved Hawksnest).Definatley rent a 4 wheeler.Just a really beautiful and laid back place. Also very kid friendly-we went with an 11 month old and she was a dream!Almost wish we had gone to Caneel for our honeymoon(and we went to Little Palm Island in the Keys which was amazing too,but much more to do on St John).Feel free to ask any questions!

We will be staying at the cottages in cinnamon bay. Could you please tell me how they looked? Was the campground crowded? How were the facilities? Was the water warm and how was the snorkeling there? Any mosquitoes or no-see-ums? Did you eat any place good that you could recommend? Any other advice you think we could use? This will be our first time to St. John. Was driving nerve-wracking? Thank you for any help.

Cinnamon Bay was really nice-the cottages were cool, facilities were very clean. The beach wasn't too bad at all crowded wise and sooo beautiful. And you are very close to the beach. Water was heavenly and snorkeling was good. Bugs were out at nite-bring some deep woods off.The Lime Inn in Cruz Bay was great and the BEST wings and rum punch at Pepe's in Coral Bay. Also must hit a happy hour @ Woody's! Car is a must-just be careful and drive slow! Be really psyched-St John's is probably the closest to heaven we'll ever be!! Enjoy! Don't bring too many clothes either!!

Trying to plan a honyemoon in June...
I would appreciate any help that you could possibly give me regarding a nice place to stay, flights, nightlife, and general travel. I would like to stay at a relatively nice place since it is our honeymoon. Please help.
Thanks,

Hi Kim-my baby wasn't quite walking yet, but I really don't see that as a problem! I would (obviously)be real careful if your'e staying in a villa with a pool. Alot of places don't even like to rent to people with small kids for that reason. But our daughter had a blast on the beach and the water's so nice for them. I wouldn't do much differently-would suggest a back carrier-my husband bought it the nite before we left and it was great-left hands free for gear! We also brought a foldable "sun shelter" for the beach which was key (came from onestepahead.com). Just bring lots of sunscreen, a good hat and skin so soft!My advice is do it-we had agreat time!
For Chad- Caneel Bay is gorgeous and probably more affordable in June. Look into a villa-there are tons available(just start searching the net for rentals)-you'd love the privacy. Not too much nitelife-some great bars, great happy hours. As for travel, you fly to St Thomas and take an easy ferry ride to St John.People are super helpful and it really is pretty easy. Well worth it.You can email me if you want more specifics..

Cin Bay campground looked very nice. The units (10's) were the closest to the water and the best views. We were there in the day so I don't know about the bugs but I am sure there are some nice breezes. Expensive but good rest. was "Asolares". Definately worth the treat. Ask for a table on the deck. Sunrise was about 6:30-6"45pm.
Jeep rental a must. A little scary at first but we adjusted right away. Stay at 2-mph and you will be fine and enjoy it!

Thanks for the baby on St. John info. We'll go in a few weeks with our 15 mos old and 3 1/2 yr old and are really looking forward to it. I posted on another site help for travelling w/ toddlers and was upset to get responses from folks thinking we were nuts to bring them. I'm just glad to share the experience and not have to leave them behind. Glad to see there are a few other family-oriented folks out there still! Thanks!
