Liberty Travel

Am highly considering using Liberty Travel for our trip to the Bahamas. Has anyone used them and did all go well?

we've used them once and won't use them again. they really only know the popular places as far as i see it. if you're looking for something a bit different or out of the the way you can probably do a better job of arranging your trip. our agent never returned my calls. we had to constantly stay on top of her. no follow-through, no real care if she got our business or not. the few times she did try to reach us she called after i left her a message that i already left my office! her way of amking contact without having to do anything for us. VERY disappointing.

Ginger, just like with everything else, it depends upon the individual person you deal with -every agency has good and possibly bad travel agents.

I have dealt with Liberty Travel many times in 2 different locations. For the most part, I have had very good service. I have a particularly good agent at Liberty right now -and I am very picky about agents.

I think the most important thing, no matter which agency you choose, is to feel comfortable with your agent. If you go in and have the feeling that the agent is not understanding or listening to your needs and desiresd, DO NOT USE THAT PERSON, otherwise you will just be frustrated! After all, most of us have to save awhile for these trips, and we want a pleasant experience with BOTH planning AND the destination.

Also, make sure that the agent has traveled to the area you are interested in so that you can feel confident that you are receiving accurate information. I would never book a European vacation with an agent who has never been to Europe.

I had an unpleasant experience with one of the agents at Liberty Travel about 4 years ago (ultimately, the problem did not affect our travel plans though), so I swithed to a small local agency. Even there, some agents were friendly and helpful, and others were not. And the other really inconvenient part about dealing with a smaller agency is their hours. Many close at 5:30 on weekdays and are not open on Sundays. When you work full time, this can be a problem. Liberty is open late Mon-Thurs, and is open on Sundays which is VERY convenient.

Needless to say, I am now back at Liberty with a great agent who I clicked with the first day I met her. She understands how anal I am about my travel and does everything to insure that I feel comfortable, and that I will have a good time during my vacation.

The moral is, choose the agent, not the company.

Hope this helped.

I have used Liberty for the few trips that we have taken. As Lisa stated prior, it does depend on the agent, not the agency. I did shop before each of the trips and Liberty had the best prices and now I use a Liberty agent that I trust and don't shop too much. I do check the paper and the ads. I call other agencies if something looks interesting. I have found that they don't call me back. If you are loyal to an agent, that person will be loyal to you and help you get the best for your money

Ginger, I have used a Liberty Travel agent for more than 6 years and have booked many trips through my favorite agent. In fact, I just went today to book a solo vacation to St. Lucia. I'm not sure where you live but if you want a good referral. . .try Suzanne Hogan, Liberty Travel in Carle Place, Long Island. . .516-742-8700. I recommend her to everyone I know. One of the few people that is truly concerned with keeping customers happy and not just making a sale. Good luck. . .and if you are going to the Bahamas, I highly recommend the Atlantis. . . I've been there twice and love it more each time I go.
My husband and I have traveled extensively, both popular locales and those wonderful "off the beaten path gems". I believe the agent and not the agency is the most important. But we do happen to use Liberty Travel and never had a problem. I would highly recommend Will at Liberty Travel in Ocean County if you live in New Jersey. Good licj!
