Just back from FS Nevis

We just returned from a glorious week at the Four Seasons in Nevis! I will be happy to answer any questions.

My husband and I just changed our wedding anniversary reservations from FS Great Exuma to FS Nevis due to some horrific reviews about the recently opened Four Season resort in Great Exuma. And now I've just came cross some ugly reviews about Four Seasons Nevis. Main complains are basically about "food, kids and complete lack of peace and privacy". I am terrified and don't know what to think anymore. Can you give me your feedback from the perspective of someone who has been there on anniversary not a family vacation. Most of the reviews are either from parents praising kids activities or someone who is complaining about kids. We were married in Four Seasons Punta Mita two years ago and we loved every minute of our stay, mainly due to the impecable service and the fact that it was very nice and quiet. What can we expect in Nevis? Is FS Nevis really overrun by babies? Is the food mediocre and service questionable?

I truly appreciate any feedback.

With all due respect, please just post a trip report. It's much more beneficial to people who come back at later time. They can read about your experiences when you are no longer here to answer questions. Thanks

This is in response to maw1's concerns. My husband and I, who are childless, vacationed at the Four Seasons Nevis in November. As we were not there during Thanksgiving week there weren't that many children at the resort. You didn't state when you plan to travel but should your trip be during school vacation I think you can expect a large number of children just about everywhere, especially at a mid- to large resort. However, there are two swimming pools at the 4SN, one of which is for adults only, and I don't recall that we ever even heard the kids at the other pool. Certainly if we heard anything it was not bothersome.

As to the service we found it to be excellent. And they also went a step beyond on our day of arrival. Our plane leaving Boston was delayed due to mechanical problems, which caused us to miss our connection to Nevis, and the only flight that day. The next two flights to St. Kitts were already overbooked and we weren't able to get on a flight to St. Kitts until I think it was 10:00 that night. The Four Seasons arranged to have their ferry pick us up in St. Kitts (we were the only passengers) and take us to the hotel. When we walked into our room we were greeted by dinner, a bottle of champagne and a big plate of chocolates. It was a very welcome surprise at the end of a very long and frustrating day of travel.

We found the food to be above average at the resort. Even the beach restaurant (I can't remember the names of any of the restaurants) was quite good and that has not always been our experience elsewhere.

What is the price for a breakfast buffet? I am trying to decide whether to take the breakfast package or the free night for an August honeymoon?
Concerning snorkeling, where are the best places to go? Can I expect to see coral and other colorful underwater life just off Pinney's beach, or should I go elsewhere?
I have an oceanfront room reserved, but am considering a Mt. View instead, to save the money and spend it on activities and food! I figure we'll be on the beach all the time, and can watch the sunsets while on a walk instead of off the balcony. Is the view pretty from the Mt. View? Are the sunrises pretty?

I don't remember what the price was of the breakfast buffet, but it was a complete buffet - and very good. Sorry I can't help you with the snorkeling question. Hopefully, someone else has first hand knowledge of the snorkeling in Nevis.

We had an oceanfront room on the second floor. The sunsets were beautiful, but I agree with you, you can walk the beach and enjoy the sunset! Mt. Nevis is a beautiful sight and I bet you would be more than happy with the Mt.view room. If you want to have a screened-in porch, make sure you request a second floor room.
