Jumby or 4S Nevis for Honeymoon?

I have decided on a honeymoon in June 2003 at either 4S Nevis or Jumby Bay Resort.
Has anyone been to both and that provide some good thoughts on the matter?

What I do know is that Jumby Bay has been dealing with changes in ownership and is not the world class resort it was 10 years ago, while the FS Nevis remains one of the Caribbean's best overall resorts.
What in particular do you value most in a honeymoon resort?

Jumby if you want wonderful beaches. 4Seasons so - so beach with great golf. Don't know that anyone can bring Jumby back to Banfi's excellence but it is wonderful now and Rosewood assuming management will be a plus. 4Seasons all rebuilt and Jumby great choices of various accomodations.

Islandtraveler,

I am going to 4S nevis for my honeymoon next month, and i have read comments similar to yours regarding the beach there.... can you elaborate what you mean by "so-so"? I understand that the sand is different, and thus its not the crystal-clear blue water you would find on other islands, but is there anything else we should know about it?

We are looking forward to just relaxing and enjoying a great week together and being a little "spoiled" after the wedding, and have been told its a great place for that... but i have to admit the beach comments worry me a tad. Thanks in advance for your help.

If you want to feel like you're in the Caribbean, go to Jumby - one of the most relaxing places I've been (after Barbuda).
If you want to feel like you're in a very beautiful US country club that has been airlifted whole to an island then 4S is for you. Nevis is a gorgous island, but the 4S really is not part of it.

aaaa,

Please let us know how your honeymoon at 4S Nevis was. I am particularly interested as that is one of my top choices for my honeymoon next year.

Jane - I would say that I value luxury and service most in a honeymoon resort. I want it to be something truly special.

Nevis and 4Seasons doesn't have spectacular beaches as some of the other islands but they are quite lovely. I didn't mean to startle anyone. 4Seasons is an outstanding beautiful luxurious resort with great service and amenities that I am sure will mesure up in every way for your honeymoon. It is outstanding and I am sure the beach will please you. It just isn't one that would make the top 30 list of Caribbean beaches.

We went to Nevis in June for a honeymoon. A lovely island, and we visited the 4 Seasons for an afternoon and took a snorkel charter from there. The beach is just fine, just not vivid blue (as others have said). I think the best beach on the island is Oalie Beach -- if you have a rental car, it's worth stopping by there for a dip. Clear water and a lovely view over to St. Kitts, plus a little bar/restaurant for a drink or bite to eat.

Jim
