Jost Van Dyke
We have just booked a vacation on Jost Van Dyke. We are staying at the Sandcastle. Can anyone share any experiences on the Island itself or the place we are staying. Thanks - looking forward to my first time in the British Virgin Islands.

Yo yo yo!!!!!!!Guess what, I'm staying at the Sandcastle too! I've been there once before and loved every second I was there. The BVI are terrific. You should even take the ferry over to St John, USVI and visit the National Park. <BR>I am from Jamaica man. Irie.

The Sandcastle has changed ownership since we last stayed there. At that time they had no electricity which made it fun. Dinner was by candle light and the lights in the rooms were gas propane. When the first owners purchased the property they were promised electricity within a year but 10 years later they still had none. Perhaps this has changed and it has finally arrived. Serice quit about 400 yards up the road. I am not certain if electricity will make an improvement or not. The beach is very sandy which does not make for good snorkeling. The best snorkeling is at the far right end of the beach. At that time the food was excellent but who knows what it is with the new owners. The most negative side involves the arrival of cruise groups which tend to take over the beach in front of your quarters inspite of signs that the area is for guests only. This is place to relax and enjoy nature. We could read with the propane lamps. The showers were out of doors so be quick to avoid the mosquitos in late afternoon.
