Jamaica research tip
This is a personal opinion from my personal expeirence . Before my trip to Jamaica I did a tremendous amount of research . I had been scared with all the negative comments and information and decided I needed to dig a little deeper , thus I turned to Fodors and elsewhere . . I realized that some of the negative comments ( not All ) were heresay , while the positive came from travellers who had actually been there . As I previously stated some of the negative expeirences were first hand reports but the positive aspects and points outweighed the negative for me . what is a negative point for one traveller might not necessarily be one for another . to some seeing any sign of poverty is a huge deterrent , and while obviously very sad and a big issue would not stop me from a destination . A lot of places would be off a travellers list in that case . That was just an example . we really need to look at the 2 sides of people who have actually been to a destination and personally decide from there . I had become very apprehensive and actually tried to cancel , but through the help of this site I kept things in perspective , and made a well thought out and researched decision decision . We loved Jamaica and will return ; in fact planning and dreaming of the trip . Please do not delete , I hope to reassure someone as I was . Faith

BRAVO Faith !! Your name certainly suits you
!
I followed your Jamaican journey through your doubts and your triumph !
You have always written well here, and expressed personal opinions in a balanced and fair way.
I research and read as you do and your observations have helped me.
So...keep the FAITH
and continue to write here.
I leave on 4/17 for 2 weeks at JI
! I'm a *little* older than you so I doubt that I will experience some of the true Jamaica that you did....but I'm certainly going to try !
Thanks again for your caring posts
!

Marion:From JI, you might enjoy a morning's drive up to Firely, Noel Coward's place, largely intact, on the mountaintop at Grant's Town. Even if you don't go in, the view from atop over the Port Maria harborscape is amazing. See www.noelcoward.net and the painting section in the archives for paintings by Coward of the area. BTW, it's only another hour or so to Port Antonio

Tiverton: Thanks for the suggestion of Firefly. I do plan to go !
I have 90 minutes with a driver from MBJ to JI and I plan to ask lots of questions
For me it's not just being a *senior*, but I'm a senior *single*.
Thanks again...you add so much to this forum !
