Jamaica in January how is the weather??

Hi everyone! I am getting married in January and my grandparents bought us a trip to jamaica ocho rios. And I was just wondering what the weather was like in january? If it is too cold to swim and what the ocean is like. I am from the boston area and have never been to jamaica and I have looked up tempature charts online but I would like to know what somewhere there in that month though. Thank you!!!

Go to www.wunderground.com - use the "Travel & Activities" dropdown menu and select "Trip Planner", type in your destination and planned dates of travel. You'll be directed to all sorts of weather data showing what the actual weather conditions were in that location for every day during that period for the last 10 years. After reviewing the material you'll know more about the weather in Jamaica than most locals.

In short, however, weather will be tropical (think daytime temps in the mid-80's F.) and yes, the water will be warm enough for swimming (think low 80's F.).

The weather will be beautiful. As described above. Whether it's warm enough to swim in the sea is personal opinion and depends on the type of beach you're at. I only know Negril, can't help with Ocho Rios. But the island of Jamaica is amazing. I'm sure you'll love your honeymoon there.

You are so very lucky! Jamaica is amazing. Ocho Rios wouldn't be my first choice. It is pleasant enough, but somewhat rougher than Negril. The beaches on this part of the island are more rocky so you might not find them as good for beach lounging and walking as you would in Negril. We found the town itself quite busy and only visited one morning. Our resort was actually at Runaway Bay (basically a large collection of AI resorts and not much else!

The weather is tropical as RoamsAround says. You will find the water great for swimming. Be sure to take a snorkeling trip, maybe a catamaran cruise. Don't miss Dunn's River Falls.

Enjoy! Jamaica is by far our favourite Caribbean island!

I spent many weekends in Ocho Rios during my stay in Jamaica. We found it to be very touristy and often would be stopped to be offered "something." There are a few really great restaurants close by and some great activities. I recommend swimming with the dolphins, and a short trip through fern gully. The temp and water temp are very pleasant that time of year. As the other commentor said, the beaches are not the best and many resorts must "import" sand to create a decent beach. Play golf at Sandals if you can, enjoy a ripe mango right of the tree, and try a finger banana.
