Island Resort and Golf Club and/or the Ritz Beach Resort

Has anyone been to the Island Resort and Golf Club and/or the Ritz Beach Resort? Trying to help a friend decide between the two, at a very cheap rate (through SkyAuction). I've heard some bad things about the Ritz 2 Resort, and can't seem to find any info about the Island Resort and Golf Club (address : Rum Cay Road
P.O. Box F-3507 Freeport). Is Island Resort and Golf Club a new or previous name of a resort? There seem to be a lot of properties with rapidly changing names around.

Actually it's the Island Seas Resort, that may be why you are having a problem finding info.

I would try the Grand Bahama Board on www.geographia.com. There are several regulars there who know GBI very well and can give you lots of pointers.

You also can try www.bahamas-mon.com and go to the traveltalk and then "kalik" on Grand Bahama.

Have a great time.

It is not the Island Seas Resort. The Island Resort and Golf Club is a small place right behind the Towers at the Royal Oasis Resort. It isn't near the beach and is an older, but from reports, clean place, privarily condos. You'll need a taxi or rental car to get around to most places, but there is a bus stop on the other side of the Royal Oasis where you can catch a local jitney to get to many places for a dollar each direction. Ritz is preferable simply because it's near the action at the Port Lucaya Marketplace and Marina.

be aware that the Royal Oasis downtown is still closed and no immediate plans to reopen (this includes the casino). Several other downtown businesses are also still closed. The golf club place will NOT be on the beach. Ritz is on beach but I think it is mostly time share kind of place. If you can afford it I suggest the Sheraton or Westin at Our Lucaya or Pelican Bay just across the street at Port Lucaya Marketplace.
All are wonderful places.
