Island Getaways in March
I want to take my wife to an island and stay ocean side. Looking for turquoise water, white sand, and no crowds. I have a lodging budget of around $1500. Travel dates are March 12-19th. Any suggestions?

Just keep in mind that T&C could possibly be cool in March. For instance today the high in Provo is 73 while it's 82 on St. Martin and 87 in Aruba. In March you can still get some cold northerly air that affects Bahamas and T&C but does not affect the more southern islands. Personally I want to be guaranteed at least 80, so in March i would go further south. April is a different story and T&C will be guaranteed warmth.

The main tourist hub is Grace Bay on the island of Providencials (Airport code PLS) There are many types of Hotels, condos in every price range. Salt Cay is a seperate Island ( another flight away, I think once per day service) very quiet, maybe 100 total people on the island. As far as the above poster--do not agree, average March temp is 82, plenty warm, we go every Jan/Feb and it is perfect , swim every day and get lots of sun. In the Grace Bay area check out Villa Del Mar, Ocean Club, Royal West Indies.

T&C is beautiful for sure, however, it is possible to get days in March with a high of 75 or so. That is just not warm enough for me on a caribbean vacation. The water temps are lower as well. I know several people who have been to T&C Dec through March that have returned saying most days were great but we had a few cool days. You can check out weather history on Weather Underground under trip planner. For example, on 3/5 and 3/6 of 2010 the high in Provo was 73 degrees. There are other years during that same period of March when the high was 71. If that is not too cool for you than it won't be a problem. Most of the time it will be 80 or higher, even 86 allowing the average to be 80 but if you want to guarantee at least 80 degrees every day of your trip, go further south.
