Is there island nightlife anywhere?

Ok, I have to start off saying that I am not looking for a spring break party until you drop, but we are a couple in our early 30's and want at least something to do at night rather than go to sleep at 8pm. We are looking at St. Martin, St. Baths, St. Lucia, Barbados and Peter Island. Does anyone know what there is to do at night? Food, shopping, bars, clubs, shows, etc.?

In that case I highly recommend you DON'T go to any Sandals property. Night life at the resorts was laughable.

There is all that you've mentioned in St. Maarten/St. Martin.

St.Martin is my vote. Lots of nightlife. Bars, happy hours, disco's, casino's, great restaurants.

Visit www.traveltalkonline.com and then decide but out of all the islands you mention, St. Martin is the one with the night life even without the casino's.

I'd say St. Lawrence Gap, Barbados and St. Martin-liked the French side especially. The other islands you noted are pretty quiet, in comparison.

Hope this helps.

San Juan, PR, St Martin (should be very high on your list for what you are looking for), Barbados and Antigua to some extent, Jamaica but you have to come out of your resort and go to the local clubs and bars because the resort entertainment is usually crap.

I have found Puerto Rico to be high on the nightlife entertainment issue. This island has all that you are looking for and the advantage of being a U.S. Territory as well.

St. Maarten has the beaches, great restaurants and the nightlife.

St. Lucia is not known for its nightlife. There is virtually none in the southern part of the island. And while there are a few more choices in the north part, other islands fit your criteria better, i.e., St. Martin, Barbados, St. Barths.

My choice would be Puerto Rico. Downtown San Juan shakes at night!

I would vote for St.Martin too, or San Juan - come on ! everybody knows that the French or the Latin people party better than Americans or British ! St.Martin has nicer beach than San Juan though.

St. Lucia has no nightlife. St. Martin is the place you want to be.
