Is La Cabana in Aruba a good choice?

Me again, I am undecided! I was now looking into La Cabana in Aruba. It's relatively inexpensive for x-mas break. Is it a good choice for myself and my two sons ages 14 & 5? It's not all inclusive, but I don't think we would need all inclusive if it came down to that. Any information would be greatly appreciated. What is good about this resort? What is bad? Thanks!

Here are some trip reports that have been posted on TripAdvisor regarding the La Cabana. Aruba can be expensive for food and drinks if you don't do all inclusive, but the all inclusives in Aruba are not as good as other Caribbean destinations in what they included.

Hi Melinda

Go to aruba-bb.com It is an Aruba forum. I went there before my trip and recieved lots of info on restaurants and such. I do not know what La Cabana is like. I am thinking it is a condo and so each unit is kept up by owners. Therefore some will be nice and some won't.
Anyway, we liked Aruba and your kids are good ages to enjoy the water activities. The restaurants are fabulous there so all inclusive is not usually recommended there. There are also fast food places for a quick bite.

We went to La Cabana twice. Last year around this time and 3 years ago.

The pros to this resort are that you have a kitchenette which is a bonus if you are not going AI. The food at this resort, we found to be above average. I'm pretty sure that you can get the AI option on a daily basis if you wish to try it a couple of times.

The rooms are a bit dated so be prepared, but they are spacious and functional.

They have a nice large freeform pool near the beach and closer to the back hotel (there are two sections of hotels) they have a pool with swim up bar and decent sized waterslide that we really enjoyed.

The beach is nice, some complain as it's across a small road but that never bothered us it still feels like you are on the beach.

Last year we were disappointed that the waterslide pool was closed as part of a renovation but we got over it and enjoyed the other pools ambience.

La Cabana can be a pricey place to travel to, if you can get a good deal it may be worth going. We would go back again, but we thought we should try someplace else and budget was a factor this year, LaCabana was pricey for us when we checked it out. We are going to Curacao Breezes instead. Don't know if it will compare. We tried St. Kitts OTI after our first time to Aruba and we missed LaCabana so much we went back the next year.

Good luck!

My friends are involved in a time share and this is where they have stayed twice now. The Love Aruba and I have never heard them complain about the place.
