Hooneymoon in the Carribean

My fiance and I have both been to basically all of Hawaii, so we do not want to go there. The Caribbean seems like a lovely option, but I don't really know where would be the best island to visit or hotel/resort to stay at. We are looking for a fairly lush island, where there are a lot of activities, such as hiking, kayaking, good snorkeling and diving. We also want something fairly intimate (no Sandals) but not too rustic. We are not really interested in night life and are on somewhat of a budget. I have heard a bit about Ti Kaye on St. Lucia from other honeymooners. Is this a good suggestion? Any other ideas? Thanks!

St. Lucia seems to be a good fit for your interests, but my concern about Ti Kaye is that it's kind of isolated and might not give you access to the range of activities that you are looking for (at least not without extra travel), and if you have to rent a car or pay for cabs or water taxis, your budget is going to be broken. Anse Chastanet would be ideal for you, but it's a very expensive resort, so I don't think it's really in the cards.

Curacao might be a good choice (good diving, lots of activities), but it's not lush at all ... very desert climate; however, it can be very budget-friendly, and the over all standard of accommodations is pretty high.

Also take a look at Grenada, which has a lot of lovely small places to stay that are still comfortable. On the whole it's a cheaper island than many; it's lush, and has access to a lot of decent dive sites.

Sorry ... one other suggestion. The British Virgin Islands might be ideal. I'd highly recommend Guavaberry Spring Bay, which is reasonably priced and has access to a range of activities; plus, it's near the Baths, which is a wonderful beach setting with excellent snorkeling.

I love the BVI - definitely check that out. Try to go off-season to save money.

I have some friends who stayed recently at Estate Lindholm and enjoyed it. Not too fancy, but nice, small, and on beautiful St. John, which has all the outdoor activities you are interested in. http://www.estatelindholm.com/

There are other places you can stay in St. Lucia near Soufriere that won't break the bank. Anse Chansanet, if you can afford it, is absolutely stunning! It's ideal for a honeymoon.

I've stayed in Castries and it's fine, but for a honeymoon I'd prefer Soufriere. Check out what deals are at the Jalouise Plantation.

St. Lucia looks a lot like Hawaii.

I really liked Ti Kaye. It was small and intimate, the staff was great and it was very relaxing. The staff can help arrange other activities off site so I wouldn't worry too much about what is and isn't available on site. They do have snorkling and diving from the beach. Check out their website for other activities.

I was there to veg out so did a few things but really enjoyed the hammock over looking the water. Friends went to Anse Chansenet and didn't really enjoy it but to be honest I'm not sure why. They have traveled all over the world but this was outside their expectations.
