Honeymoon in December - help!
Hello! With a wedding on 12/11/10, we hope to travel to the Carribbean between 12/13 - 12/21. Realizing this is high season, we're at a loss on where to begin. We're hoping for top notch food, a gorgeous beach and Four-Seasons style hotel room. Which island and where? We'll be flying out of Boston. Suggestions? Thank you!!

The Caribbean covers a lot of areas and scores of different islands, each with its own vibe. Generally speaking you can find upscale resorts with "Four Seasons type rooms" on almost every island. You really have to do some basic research to determine which island you want to visit. Remember too that getting to some of the islands and resorts is not always easy - it can entail taking one or more connecting flights, flying in smaller planes or even taking a ferry ride to reach your final destination.
Start your search by using the "Destinations" link at the top of this page, click through to the Caribbean and read the summaries of each island. Choose 2 or 3 that most interest you then use the search feature to bring up recent posts about those islands and the resorts on those islands.
Now, there are plenty of high end resorts

Opps! Hit Submit too soon.
As I was saying, there are plenty of high end resorts in the Caribbean. If you are willing to push off your trip for a few days the Four Seasons resort on Nevis is scheduled to reopen after almost two years of renovations on December 15. Other high end resorts around the Caribbean include:
The Ritz Carlton, St. Thomas, USVI's
Caneel Bay, St. John, USVI's
Little Dix Bay, Virgin Gorda, BVI's
Biras creek, Virgin Gorda, BVI's
Peter Island Resort, Peter island, BVI's
Cap Juluca, Anguilla
Malliouhana, Anguilla
Cusinart, Anguilla
Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic
Eden Roc, St. Barths
Sandy Lane, Barbados
Carlise Bay, Antigua
Jumby Bay, Antigua
Petit St. Vincent Resort, Grenadines
Raffels, Canouan, Grenadines
Anse Chastenet, St. Lucia
Check out the websites for the above resorts to see if they fit your desires and budget.

Actually, the first 2 weeks of December is still considered low season. We have been going during that time for several years and have found great prices. Heading back again this December.
RoamsAround has given you great info. Look around and then post back with specific questions or Islands.

ST Barth is another possibility for that time of year. There is good availability right before Christmas, and things are starting to gear up. Its quiet, but you will find almost everything open. Have a look at the Carl Gustav, The Isle de France,

I went to Anse Chastanet myself and had great food and a really great time. If you can DEFINITELY get a room at Jade Mountain. I ate there once and the food is unbelievable. My girlfriend is very finicky and the chef was able to prepare customized food she loved with no problem. We are planning to go back and stay at Jade Mountain this time. Also the resort is smaller than many of the others so I didn't feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of other tourist around.

Grace Bay beach in Turks and Caicos is arguably the best beach in the Caribbean. If an off-the-charts beach is the primary issue on your list of criteria, then look no further. This place looks as good as any Corona commercial.
Top hotels include Grace Bay Club, The Somerset, The Regent Palm, The Regent Grand, and Villa Renaissance.
Tripadvisor's 2010 awards ranked Grace Bay beach #1 in the world and Villa Renaissance as the #2 luxury hotel in the Caribbean. I took this advice and stayed at Villa Renaissance in June and I was not disappointed!

I have to agree with 2bamafan! Grace Bay Beach cannot be beat! It is, by far, the most beautiful beach in all of the Caribbean. Another resort that wasn't mentioned is Point Grace...great place for honeymooners (you won't find any kids there), but all the one's mentioned above will suit what you're looking for. Also, all the resorts in T&C are condo style..so you don't just get a "room"...you get your own home away from home. There are also great restaurants on Provo. Point Grace has one of the most romantic restaurants on the island (Grace's Cottage). If I were you, I'd definitely consider Turks and Caicos for your honeymoon.

We go to the Turks and Caicos Islands 2-3 times a year, as we have a house there. Our favorite place to stay before building, was The Royal West Indies. It is a beautiful place right on Grace Bay, and the staff is delightful.
The restaurant, Mango Reef, is one of the best on the island.
The condos are clean, well decorated, and they have studios, 1-bedroom, 2-bedrooms, and they are only 3 stories high.
