Hi, bob and dana and congrats on your wedding.
St. Lucia and Belize are two destinations that can make people swoon. They can also make people gag. it's so much a matter of personal taste that it's impossible for us to advise you without knowing more. budget? tastes? travel time? activities? do you want to be on the beach? do you want soft adventure? do you want shopping? nightlife? casinos? snorkeling? hiking? do you want a villa, hotel, inn, or resort?
St. Lucia and Belize are both great destinations, especially for those who don't want their activities to center around the beach. They offer soft adventure, rain forest, hiking, etc in spades. I've only been to St. Lucia and in fact it was my first destination in the Caribbean and I loved it.
If, however, you're all about the beach, you may be mildly disappointed with either location because the beaches there aren't the quintessential, miles-long, soft white sand beaches. Which is not to say they're not lovely in their own right, but they're not the usual beach you see in the postcards and Corona beer commercials.
Tell US more and we'll tell YOU more!

Bobanddana1,
I couldn't agree more with what ejcrowe said. I have been to St. Lucia but not Belize. I really enjoyed St. Lucia (probably the most beautiful island I have visited overall), but no one destination is right for everyone. St. Lucia, although a small island geographically, offers a very different vacation experience depending on where you stay, so it is important for you to pick a location on the island that meets your needs.
Ejcrowe,
Your description of the beaches on St. Lucia was perfect. Since my own trip, I have tried to find a good way to explain the beaches there. Although I normally prefer long, white sand beaches, I thought the beaches in St. Lucia were very pretty, just in a different way with the dramatic, lush, mountainous backdrops.

Belize is awesome - lots of fun adventures. We liked the Jaguar Reef Lodge in Hopkins, Stann Creek District.
However, if you want the beautiful white beaches and crystal clear blue waters right off the shore (with snorkeling right off the shore) then Belize is not what you want. Go to a Caribbean island for that.
Have not been to St. Lucia.

St. Lucia would be a wonderful choice for a honeymoon, especially with the beautiful resorts in the southern part of the island (Jade Mountain, Ti Kaye Village, Ladera, and Jalousie). The lushness and physical beauty of the island is very relaxing and romantic. You can't go wrong with St. Lucia.
