Help with narrowing down search
Hey guys/gals/trannys,
The wife and I were just discussing a possible trip to the Caribbean early June 2009. We are a newly-wed couple in our mid thirties. We are looking for the following criteria in a resort: Semi to full luxury, some night life (but we don’t need to rage), daytime activities, all-inclusive and preferably adult only. All of these elements do not have to be present but are preferred. We would like to spend no more than $300 USD a night if that is possible. A few non negotiable factors are: has to be by the ocean, and moderate to low crime rate. Preliminary possible options are Sandals and Breezes (overpriced for value?). We are looking at Bermuda, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, St. Thomas, and Dominican Republic. I would really appreciate any help narrowing down our search. We are going mad weighing the pros and cons of each island!

You could check out Almond Morgan Bay in St Lucia. Great island, AI resort on the beach. Bay Gardens Resort on St Lucia is another option - there is a Bay Garden Hotel and an Inn too, so make sure you check for the resort as they are right on the beach. The Couples group are adults only - think Jamaica and Antigua. There is also an adults only Almond Resort on Barbados.

My husband and I just came back on Saturday from the Sandals Grande Antigua. It was our second time there. You might look seriously at this as an option as it is an adults only AI.
We stayed in the Mediterranean Village in a Penthouse honeymoon suite. We had a refrigertaor full of pop, small cans of juices, beer, wine, champagne, and bottled water. We also had a table in the living room that held wine, rum, vodka, gin and scotch. Our balcony was huge with a table and chairs and two chaise lounges with a table in between. There was also a place to hang your towels/clothes to dry. The bathroom was big with his and her sink areas. The shower was large. There was also a bathtub. The W/C was a separate room. There were always plenty of bath towels.
The swimming pool is the largest in the east Caribbean and lots of chaise lounges. We went down about 9:30 in the mornings and were usually the second one down there. The hot tub was huge, as well. The swim up bar service was good and they did a great job with the drinks. It rained only one morning that we were there. The last time we were there, we hired a driver and had him take us around the island, which we highly recommend. At night, they had talent shows, singers, there was dancing, etc.
There are nine restaurants, so you will find something you like. We had dinner at Eleanor's twice. Wonderful pumpkin soup, jerk chicken with rice and peas and pumpkin pie that was very fresh. We ate breakfast at Mario's every day which is a buffet. They also have a pizzeria that is quite good. The pub has a delicious burger. All in all, the food is rather good everywhere. The staff was very friendly towards us.
Both of our trips there have been fabulous. This last trip was really an opportunity for us to just veg and we did. We definitely will go back a third time.
