help with family vacation in Caribbean
I once again turn to my fellow Fodorites...
I would like to plan a vacation.. appx 5 days to the Caribbean.. my sons 20 and 16 have never been there...
This is the wish list
1. A private villa.. kitchenette.. with extremely private pool (no onlookers)
2. Great place for novice snorkelers - perhaps guided tours...
3. Some night activity.. casino?
4. watersports... jet skiing, etc.
Thanks

What is your budget? Is there any place you want to rule out? We just got back from Negril Jamaica in May. We took our 2 kids (17 & 23) for 5 nights. It was wonderful. My son loved the music scene & talking politics with the locals. Daughter enjoyed the fresh fruits & relaxing.
We stayed at an AI since it was our 1st trip. All food, drinks & watersports were included. The snorkeling was fun & husband went diving. The food was so-so & the entertainment was ok. There are many other places to stay that have kitchens as well as on site dining.
Sis-in-law stayed at Moon Dance Villas in Negril. They had a villa with their own cook & bartender for about what they would have spent at an AI resort. Their water sports were included. It was near to other places to eat or hear music & the beach is wonderful. They had reserved a 2 bedroom & were upgraded to the 3 bedroom. Many others have had similar experiences.
Worth checking out. Negril is a very laid back place with cliffs, beaches & tropical areas.
