Another thought. Possibly a lottery tied into your state's lottery drawing assuming you have a state lottery. I just saw this done with a very expensive car that the owner knew would have a limited number of buyers.
Given your timeframe, this may be difficult to pull off.

Crowisland: Just had a thought... there are several other sites that advertise for the Gibney Cottages and if someone were to inquire about that week, they'd get a "no" because it would already be bound to you. If you contacted them to let them know what the circumstances are, they may be able to re-rent it for you. Of course, I imagine they may take a fee, but it's better than loosing it all, isn't it? The cottages are also listed by www.vivavacations.com, www.suitestjohn.com, www.carefreegetaways.com, and www.caribbeanvilla.com, and most notably at www.gibneybeachvillas.com where you can email the owner, Teri Gibney herself. It may be worth your while to investigate? Just a thought.
