Help needed on picking Caribbean destination!
Is there anything that fits what we're looking for? We're young, single, stressed out ICU nurses in our mid-twenties who like to have fun and also need to relax!
What we're looking for....
-awesome beach with clear waters
-good shopping
-good food/restaurants
-decent nightlife (hey, we're single, LOL!!!)
-water activites like snorkling, jet skiing
-sightseeing/interesting things
There are sooooo many places in the Caribbean to pick from and we are all over the place deciding where to go! Is there anything you know or have been that will fit the majority of what we're looking for? Thanks so much!

Barbados is good for the first-timer, as it has some of everything the Caribbean has to offer, except a volcano. Lovely people, wide range of hotels, restaurants, sightseeing, nitelife, beaches, watersports. See www.barbados.org

Barbados would be an excellent choice. Stay in the St. Lawrence Gap area for all the things you like ... especially the nightlife. And do island tours because Barbados is a big and interesting place.
Negril, Jamaica, would also suit you, and the beaches there are probably better than in Barbados. Lots of great activities, lots of nightlife and fun.
I can imagine that you would also enjoy Aruba which has all of the above (more marginal on sightseeing) and is a big party spot with good restaurants, though it's a bit Americanized.

I can repeat that for the third time! We just returned a month ago and fell in love with Barbados. We came home with so many memories. The locals truly touched us.
Go and enjoy. You deserve it. Nursing is a tough field, I can't imagine working ICU.

I would also agree Barbados would fit what you want. It wasn't my favorite island, (st john wins so far) but it does have great beaches, fantastic food. St Lawrence gap is a happening place and more economical than the West side near HOletown. We have pottery that we got from the Earthworks pottery place- fantastic souvenir dishes, etc. Look them up on the internet. Every time we eat dinner, we are reminded of our caribbean trips. St Martin might be good for you also- check out the Grand Case beach club - near grand case which is the "gourmet capitol of the caribbean". french food or grilled lobsters on the beach. Good luck.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic...slands.htmlout Check out this trip report. Sounds like these young girls had a great time on St John. It meets most of your criteria. The shopping is decent and you could also go to St Thomas. Decent but not too crazy night life in Cruz Bay. Great snorkeling and plenty of sightseeing and opportunities to day trip to the BVI's. Oh, BTW, the North Shore beaches are awesome.

Hey Ladies - I loved St. John and want to go back with my fiancee - but if nightlife means to you dancing I had a hard time finding that. There were a few bars here and there that were great for a few drinks and some socializing but not necessarily a singles scene.
I heard that Aruba is great for some nightlife (but not Cancun MTV SpringBreak - if you know what I mean) along with some great beaches.
