Grenada and Kennedy Tours

My husband and I are looking forward to arriving in Grenada in two weeks! We are planning on doing some hikes to the waterfalls, and I'm wondering if we need a guide for any/all of these. I've heard Kennedy is very good, and he offers hiking tours to Concord Falls, Seven Sisters, Fedon's Camp, and Honeymoon Falls. Is a guide necessary for these hikes or are they well-marked? Thanks, Fodorites!

You'll get much more comprehensive help if you post this over on www.grenadatravelforum.com. I don't know Kennedy but if you've heard good things about him, go for it. For your first visit to Grenada I would advise a guide, as you'll learn so much more in his/her company than you would on your own. It's not so much that you couldn't find your way on your own. But with most guide you'll get a great overview of Grenadian culture and history, which for me is an enriching experience.

My husband and I will be returning to Grenada on June 6 and are staying in a villa in the LAE area. When do you arrive and where will you stay?

Thanks, ejcrowe- I will check that that forum. Your advice about getting much more detailed background information makes sense and would make the trip much more interesting, I'm sure.

We arrive June 5 and are staying at Laluna- can't wait

LaLuna is so lovely and romantic! I stayed there in 2006 and really enjoyed it. Staff was gracious, food was wonderful, and I loved the indoor/outdoor spaces of each room. Most of the guests there were also there for romantic getaways, so the public spaces weren't as convivial as many places seem to be, but it was perfect for us.

Hope you have a fantastic time and maybe we'll see you around the island. We'll be the stout white couple with a big age difference.

You should definitely see the market while you're there. And for real, downhome Grenadian cuisine, Boots Restaurant can't be beat. You have to call ahead for reservations 'cause he cooks in his own home but it's so worth it. Cash only. If you're on a mealplan at La Luna, you could try Boots for lunch instead.

Not sure if you'll read this or not, but it was nice running into you and your husband tonight at Boots. Hope the rest of your stay in Grenada is as lovely as ours has been and I hope you post a report when you get back home to Austin!

Are you having fun Emily? You made me hungry at the mention of Boots. What was for dinner?
