Grand Cayman 2BR condo or suite on Seven Mile Beach

We are planning a Cayman Islands trip for Spring Break of 2005 and are beginning to check out acccommodations. I think we would prefer to be centrally located rather than remote, preferably right on Grand Cayman's Seven Mile Beach. We are a family of four and would hope to find a condo or suite to accommodate 2 grown ups, a teenage son and younger daughter. Pool, beach, lovely surroundings are what we're looking for. We know this is going to be expensive...any suggestions Fodorites? Are my initial ideas not such good ideas? Thanks in advance!

I stayed at the Westin on Seven mile beach. South of it was the Villas of the Galleon. We should have stayed there like my fellow Fodorites suggested. VOG and Westin are located on the best strip of Seven mile (this is partially why we chose Westin). Many others select Platana which is just north of the Westin. I am sure others will chime in and give you their 1st hand experience. Next time we go to GC, we are staying at VOG. Check out this map in case anyone else gives you other suggestions. Good Luck! http://www.condoconcepts.com/maps/7mile.htm

My husband and I just got back form the Cayman's and we stayed at Casa Caribe, it was absolutely wonderful, the condo's are very nice, they are located in central seven mile beach a perfect location, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Check out cayman vacations.com. They have descriptions of various condos and have a map of 7 mile beach, so you can see exactly where each condo is.

We stayed in VOG in Feb. and loved the location. The only drawback was we didn't have a washer and dryer. (was told only 2 units have them)

Next year, we'll probably stay at Plantana. All 2 bedroom condos have washer and dryer and being near the Westin Hotel was a big plus for us.

We stayed at The Villas of The Galleon this past June. I highly recommend it!
Here is the link to my trip report webpage:

Lots of pictures of The Villas of The Galleon on here.

One thing......the VOG has no pool, but we never missed not having one, with the beach just 50 yards form the door of our condo.

Have spent two extended vacations at Plantana and would highly recommend it. You can walk to supermarket - Plantana provides grills so you can cook out, units are very nice, and it has a pool. Even though you can live without a pool, it is nice to have one.

I have stayed at both VOG and Casa Caribe after discovering that hotels are not the way to go in GC. Both are nice, but Casa Caribe is MUCH nicer and has a pool if that is important to you. I highly recommend it!
