GC at Thanksgiving - where to stay?
My husband and I are thinking of traveling to GC during Thanksgiving with our 14 year old son. We have some diving experience but are looking for a lot more. We want to have shopping and restaurants within reasonable proximity, but aren't interested in large crowds. We have looked at Silver Sands and Indies Resort.
Any suggestions for condos with close good snorkeling and dive shops for certification?

try www.caymanvacations.com. Gives great descriptions of condos plus the snorkeling rating for each.

Kathy, We stayed a few condos down from Silver Sands and walked past it on the beach almost everyday for a wk. It looked really nice. The beach- sand is beautiful there but I think it slopes down a little. Compared to Discovery Point the condos s it bk from the beach a little, but facilities looked good. I spoke to a woman w/her family the first wk in June and she said they were the ONLY people there!! It is also the closest condos I think to Cemetary Beach where you could practically walk out your door and go to some of the best snorkeling on the island. It is very quiet on that N. part of seven mile beach. We loved it.

Kathy,
We have stayed in the Lacovia Condos the last two summers and loved it. The units are directly on the water and the complex is next door to the Hyatt so you have many of the "resort perks" (shops, ice cream shop, etc.) but don't have to share the beach! There are many restaurants nearby and it is just a few minutes (3-5) from the grocery store. www.lacovia.com is the website there. We are divers and were able to dive with Red Sail, also located beachside at the Hyatt. You will have the Lacovia beach to yourself...we loved that! Email with any questions.
