Frenchmen's Reef

Has anyone stayed here recently? Do I need a car to go out to dinner or can I walk? Any recommendations on fine dining?

have not been recently, but yes you need a car to go out to dinner. it is not in walking distance of anything.

some fine dining in charlotte amalie. as i've not been on st. t recently i'll leave it to others to suggest where, other than havana blue, at your hotel, which is outstanding.

Agree with Virginia, Havana Blue is excellent! However, Frenchmans Reef is not walking distance to anything. In fact, it was a cluster of traffic due to road construction. For fine dining, you might try Twisted Cork in Frenchtown (formerly Craig and Sally's). We had dinner at The Great House on the North Shore, and it was excellent, but not sure if a taxi would take you there. We happen to know some locals

You can walk to Havana Blue and the Sand Bar at Morning Star, Coco Joe's, Sunset Grill, Aqua Terra at the Reef and Sunset Cove at Frenchman's Cove. You can take a taxi or drive to several great restaurants in town (Room with a View, Banana Tree), Yacht Haven Grande (Grande Cru) or Frenchtown (Bella Blu, Oceana). There are restaurants in Red Hook, but that is a bit farther of a drive.

My apologies, I was not thinking about the restaurants at the resort itself. We ate at Sunset Grill, and while the food was okay, I was not overly impressed.

Then yes, you need a car or a taxi to get to other spots for dinner. I am pretty sure the Reefer(the water taxi)is only available during the day to take you to town...
