Family hotel in the Bahamas
I am hoping to travel to the bahamas over Christmas with my family. I have a family of 5. We frequently stay in 1 room traveling in the U.S. (small children) but almost all attempts to find a room/suite capable for our family has failed. Every place on the beach wants me to book two expensive rooms. Any ideas? I am looking to stay in Nassau and/or Paradise Island

I can not recommend a hotel in the Bahamas, but I can tell you what places you want to avoid.
On August 21, 2003 my family was attacked by two gunmen inside room 423 at the Nassau Beach Hotel. We were tied up, robbed and my 15 old daughter taken to the hospital.
We lost property, our lives changed forever and the hotel owners still refuse to take responsibility for their security failure. Next to the Nassau Beach Hotel there is the Wyndham Ressort, it looks nice in the outside but you may be surprised. Their service and security is not very different.
Take my advice and eliminate these two from your list.

Harrald,
Is that you posting again?
Terry we have a disgruntled poster here sometimes saying awful things about the Bahamas because he lost money through some kind of business deal and blames it on the Bahamas.
I have been going to the Bahamas for many years and have never had a problem.
As far as your need for a hotel. The Comfort Suites on Paradise Island will work, and you would have full access to all the amenities at the ATlantis by staying there. A nice pool at the resort with a swim up bar and the Atlantis is across the street.
Christmas is HIGH SEASON in the Bahamas so if you want to go there, BOOK NOW.
Comfort Suites also will give you a frig for your room so you can keep lunch and soda supplies on hand. Also breakfast comes complimentary with your stay there.
Hope this helps have a GREAT TIME.

The Comfort Suites are right across the street from the Atlantis. You may also want to look into the Harborside condos which are right next door to Atlantis and also offer full access to Atlantis' facilities.

Terry, the Bahamas are alot bigger than just Nassau/Paradise Island. Why not try the "Family Islands"? You and your family can rent a whole house on the island of Eleuthera for what it would cost for a hotel room in Nassau. And you'd have your own beachfront to call your own! Do a google.com search for "Eleuthera villa" and you will see what I mean. Very laid back, and the people are absolutely wonderful. A very different atmospher of course, you must make your own adventures!
