Family AI's Reviews

Looking for reviews from families who have RECENTLY visited Jamaica. I am most interested in activities for kids ages 8 and up, the beach and pool area, adult night time activities, and the kids centers. Any other information you would find helpful is most appreciated. Please don't bother with Beaches Negril. It is gorgeous yes, but I refuse to spend over 9K for a week.

Wyndham Rose Hall
FDR Pebbles
Starfish Trelawny

Hello. We recently visited Jamaica (April) and although this resort wasn't on your list it might warrant some consideration. Since you listed Wyndam
I will suggest looking at Sunset Beach, also in MB. For children there was a small cottage as a "clubhouse".
Close by were a mini golf, tennis courts, oversize board games (giant checkers, chess), shuffleboard and also
ping pong and pool. The beach was more like a lagoon with very calm water and plenty of shade. There is a "kids" pool and a snack bar all right together. We saw a good amount of younger children and they all appeared to be having a good time. The biggest downside we found was that the rooms were a bit worn but they were very clean. The nighttime entertainment was a little campy but the children seemed to love it. The food was fine and in the reservation Italian it was actually good. The service was super. There is a
full service spa for the parents and it was quite good and very reasonably priced. We would not hesitate to recommend this resort for families. Also we met several families who were staying at the Holiday Inn Sunspree and they were very pleased. Both of these resorts are value priced. We paid about $650.00 for an Air Jamaica vacation (3 nights) from Atlanta. Hope you find a deal. We loved Jamaica. Sonya

Nobody else has responded to you, probably because you will find tons of information by doing a text search on the three resorts you are considering. Come on, try it, it's easy.

I DID do a search and came up with posts with winter dates asking for the same information I am seeking. I am not lazy, I am just trying to get information. I have posted the question again because this is the time frame I plan to travel next year and would like to her from people who had recently stayed there.

Here's the problem:
The best beach areas in Jamaica are in Negril. The AI's there are very expensive. There are some more reasonably priced places elsewhere (MoBay and Ocho areas, and in between) but the beaches and swimming conditions aren't as good.

We took our 11-year-old to the Wyndham Rose Hall and a good time was had by all. However, the Red Flag (no swimming) was up the entire week we were there. The sea water was cloudy due to suspended sand and seaweed. We drove past Trelawny and the Holiday Inn, among others, and they appeared to have comparable beach conditions. We didn't see FDR Pebbles but I have read negative comments about the beach there.

We did have a couple of nice swims at Doctor's Cave Beach in MoBay, but I don't think you'd want to stay there.
The pool complex at the Wyndham is excellent. There is some okay entertainment at night. The supervised children's program is rather limited.

We're beach worshipers and if we go back to Jamaica it will be to Negril. We also refuse to spend 9K (or 7K) for a week. I would look for a good package deal, maybe at the new Riu resort, or I would stay in one of the better non-inclusives (e.g. Charela Inn, Coco la Palm, Beachcomber).

If you're going in March you may be able to get good deals 2-3 months ahead. We had to book farther ahead for President's Week, but for a March trip you probably won't see package pricing until about October.
