El Conquistador resort

Food is great. There is no beach right on the resort proper. Instead there is a little island you get to via their boats. The island is great - activities & some snorkeling on it. Only hassle is when the boats are busy & you have to stand in line for half-an-hour to get one.
Can't comment on how teens will like it - we were on a convention. The resort left me with an impression of more sophisticated rather than a blast.
We usually like to rent a jeep & explore but we did not on this trip. Between the bars on the windows of homes going to the resort & a warning to stay in the main blocks of the shopping area when the hotel's shuttle into town for a shopping trip - we were not excited about exploring the island. Could be a wrong impression however - it may be a great island to explore.

The resort is beautiful and the view from top is breathtaking. Food is good and expensive. Buffet breakfast is 30.00USD/person. There are a lot of restaurants (at least 10); you can eat in the cafe's (for bkfast, lunch) and the price is a bit better. The nicer restaurants are truly very expensive. For ex: 4 of us (2 adults & 2 toddlers) spent 136 USD on a Chinese dinner. The Palomino island that you can get to by boat is very beautiful and has pretty good snorkeling. This private island, owned by Conquistador, also has all kinds of activities like renting waverunner, sailboats, parasailing... They have different activities every day at this beach. The hotel also has multiple pools, a water slide and also, an arcade area. I think that your teens will enjoy the property. We just came back from this hotel and did not have to stand in line very long to get to the island. The downside is the cleaning service in our room is not consistent day by day. Overall, we enjoyed it.

Also, The El Yunque rain forest is not too far from the hotel (about 15 mins drive). Your teens will enjoy the forest. The island of Vieques, off of Fajardo, is definitely worthwhile if you have extra days. Search for Vieques on this board and you will find good info on snorkeling and beaches. We did the biobay tour in Vieques, instead of Fajardo and it was very nice. YOur teens will enjoy Vieques also if you have extra time.
