ejcrowe; In my negative comments about snorkeling in the very immediate area of VG I was not includung Peter Island, Indians, Dogs or Cooper Island which are not VG. But for most of the better places we had to rent Mitchel and his 35ft. speed boat for I think ~$700 for 6-7 hours for with the whalers at Biras you cannot get to any of the better places you went. The only pretty pretty good places were Oil Nut Bay.

Loved your trip report ejcrowe. Brought back great memories of VG. VG is also in our top 5. We definately prefer it over tortolla. Its the quiet quaintness of the island we love and the fact that it has better beaches. I am interested in going to nevis but am afraid we may be disappointed with the beaches...thanks again for a wonderful report.

Hi, Stan--
Actually, my favorite snorkeling on the trip was on Virgin Gorda, from Spring Bay up to Big Trunk. I didn't much care for the snorkeling at Peter Island.
But we're both in agreement that the other places are *not* part of VG!

What great pictures!Virgin Gorda has just recently interested me for a future trip.I have researched it a little and now I'm confused on where to go next
Negril,STJ or VG? I still have time to figure it out.
I can now put a name with a face (like Caribtraveler said)...nice to meet you!
Sounds like you enjoyed VG.Thanks for the report!

bill, I didn't see your question before.
I loved both Mahoe and Spring Bay on VG and would be thrilled to stay in either location. Mahoe was more off the beaten path, and if I could find a really good deal there again, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Now that I know that some of the Guavaberry Cottages have a/c in the bedrooms, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there, either.
Which places are you considering? I remember Open Deck being on your list at one point...some of the others we had considered were Las Brisas, la Casita, or Virgin Oriental Villa.

ejcrowe; I should add I thought the trip report was excellent. Reasonable people can differ on quality of snorkeling. My comparison in the immediate aea in Caneel then it jumps to Grenadines, Belize, Honduras, Curacao, GC (near the Cayman Kai Resort) and a few areas around Bonaire).

ej,
I will find out next week if we can get FF tickets to Fiji, if we can't, we'll be going to VG. Like you, the a/c units at Guavaberry are very appealing. Reasonably priced and close to that great beach. We might end up splitting our time between Guavaberry and Adagio or Open Deck, just so we can float in a pool with that gorgeous view for a few days. Thanks!

Bill, Fiji sounds divine! That would definitely be a dream trip for us. We jokingly call our spare change collection our Fiji Fund, but we'll get there one day. So far our spare change has grown to a few hundred dollars in rolled coins.
