Do you have any pictures of Long Bay resort that you took while on your vacation. The more I look at their website, the more I think I like it. Are there other restaurants, etc nearby incase others would like to go out for lunch etc?
Thanks

I have tons of pictures, but unfortunately most of them are not digital images. If you post your email address I'll send you the few digital ones I took myself.
and if turns out that you start to seriously consider Long Bay for your wedding, I'll see what I can do about sending you physically my photographs, which I would really need back.
The last time I visited, which was August of last year, there were a few other places to eat. There is the small locally owned beach bar between the Long Bay Hotel and the Grand Pineapple Beach Resort. It is very reasonably priced, and many of the area hotel employees eat there. Typical sandwiches & burgers, with maybe a fish or chicken plate.
Just outside the property of the Grand Pineapple, there is another restaurant which was new when I was there last summer. I haven't tried it yet, so I can't tell you what kind of food is served there. You can reach it by walking along the beach and up some stairs, or by walking along the road.
There is also the Dian Bay Resort. I've never eaten there, but the last time I talked with the folk at Long Bay about it, non-guests could make reservations for meals there. I don't think it's possible to eat at Grand Pineapple restaurants.
In the village of Willikies, you can find a rum shop, an ice cream shop, and a take-out snackette place. I've only stopped for ice cream here. It's a good mile, maybe longer, walk from Long Bay on a road that is not shaded. The ice cream was good and I was glad to see more of the neighborhood than what I'd see in a car, but if one is not accustomed to walking in that heat, I'd probably recommend just stopping in the car for something in the village while en route to or from the hotel.
Other than those few things within walking distance (and personally, my definition of walking distance gets shorter and shorter the hotter it is outside), there's not much. If someone wanted to drive to lunch, anything else would be at least a 10 minute drive.
Please let me know if you have any more questions. Have you checked the reviews at Trip Advisor? Most of them are very positive and reflect my own experiences there, but there are a few stingers, too.

Thanks for replying. I wasn't sure which way would be best to contact you so I tried 2. I haven't ran long bay past my fiance yet. The whole destination wedding planning has not gone as smoothly as I would have liked so good thing I have time. My fiance wants to go away, my dad doesn't. I've always thought a beach wedding would be nice. My fiance went back to school and has 1 1/2 left so most of the money etc will be from me so with just buying land to build a house we aren't going to have much left for a wedding. Anyway I want to find an island with a nice hotel that others will enjoy too without costing a lot. Our friends and most family will come but I do not want the cost to be extreme. You made Long Bay sound nice but I would appreciate the digital pics that you have. I do not want to be responsible for your personal pics, but thanks for offering them. When you have time just email them (hotel, antigua) at [email protected].

kessh - Try checking out this other forum.

There are some active members on it that are residents of Antigua. There's also a fella in the forum by the name of Mark who seems to take a lot of photos of different beaches and hotels on the island and posts them on the forum. He may have some photos for you that he can post.
Happy planning!

hmmm, I actually sent the photos in two emails as the email program told me that the first message was over the space limit. I sent them from my husband's account, so I'll check his email when I get home to see if they bounced back...and I'll try sending them again. Sorry--I do think of myself as computer challenged most of the time...

well, I tried again last night and thought it went through, but my husband informs me this morning that it did not, for two reasons. one, that the size of the email was too big, and two, that your inbox was too full to accommodate it. maybe i could just sent them one picture at a time? does that sound like a reasonable suggestion?
if you can walk me through a different way to do it, please let me know! I won't be able to try to resend them until tonight when I get home from work, as my husband is using his machine for actual work all day long. The nerve of some people!
