deep sea fishing/ st john

Anyone know of a charter or local for a 1/2 day fishing trip? Ideally one that is a reasonable as it will probably just be my husband, I'm not into it but he loves it. I have looked at some of the prices for a half day charter, but don't want to spend that much for him to indulge in a little fishing. Any charters that match up single guests to share the cost? A reputable local would be fine.

I don't know specifics but if you inquire at the dive shops e.g. Cruz Bay Watersports in Cruz Bay or Crabby's out in Coral Bay, I bet they will have plenty of good suggestions and they will also be more careful regarding their recommendations as they wouldn't want to disappoint their public. Of the two, I'd say Crabby's is more likely to have more info. because they deal with more locals there.

connections is an answering, mail & charter booking service right in Cruz Bay.

When my buddy used to take folks out...that is where you'd call to book his boat!

Give em a try!

Thanks very much for your responses. I have added the suggestions to my list of STJ tips. We have had locals for the last 2 vacations and that worked out well, so thought we might try it again. We will start asking around when we arrive. One of my forum friends (Hi Kelly!) just mailed me a very nice detailed map of Cruz Bay. Does it look deceivingly big? It it relatively quick to walk around Cruz Bay? Kind of hard to picture it without having been there.

Cruz Bay is fairly small. I think you could easily walk from one end to the other in about 7 minutes. That's one of the most endearing things about it. It is still a darling little port town. May it stay that way.

brenandg...why not post that URL for the cruz bay map so others can see it too!

Does it show all the businesses in town?

I would love to post the URL for you, but she mailed it to my home along with some coupons and other booklets. It is the best map I have seen of Cruz Bay yet. It is large and shows many of the business' in town. Shows where the Marketplace, Mongoose Junction and the Lumberyard complex are. Also includes a small map of Coral Bay. I saw the Connections place you mentioned near Skinny Legs. Looks like they have one in Cruz Bay too. I wrote the # down from the website.
