Been there last year. Stayed at Le Flamboyant where we had the best breakfast buffet ever seen in a hotel. We rented a car and drove over to Philippsburg. Parked on a Sunday afternoon on the big parking lot right across from the church and went to have lunch. My husband (yes HE) forgot to take the key from the carlock. After a 2hr lunchbreak we returned and the only car still there on that parking lot was ours, the key still dangling on the lock, nothing stolen, nothing broken... If we could, we would go back immediately, not just because of the awesome food.

That this person would construe being kicked off a skooter (yeah for the purposes of robbing it) into a murder attempt. Especially with the other postings of actual murders and armed robberies floating around on this board. This incident can not even hold a candle to these other reports. This person has way to active an imagination.

Is any one keeping score any more?

Do you think the Dutch Army will be able to control the criminals? From what I understand they haven't been in combat in quite a few years. However, I do believe they have a few F-16's. How long will it take them to get there? Are they travelling by battleship or flying?

Why have you resurrected this thread? This is the sort of posting which should be ignored and in fact deleted by Fodors because it is in poor taste!

I think your headline worked. We're going on a cruise in 3 weeks and St.Martin is one of the ports of call so I immediately looked into your message. Our party is NOT to the likes of nudity and we're also bringing our son 9 and our friends son 11. However, that is the PRECISE reason why I do as much research as possible BEFORE going anywhere. We don't tell other people how to live, if they like the nudity - go for it, for those of us who don't - well, from what I've researched, stay on the Dutch side and enjoy the beautiful beaches and shopping! And of course ALWAYS, no matter WHERE you go...exercise common sense and safety!
